Exactly 1 week since I had the encounter with my new hot neighbor, I wonder what she's doing right now. It's Friday, is she out with friends?

I looked at my watch, it was only after 6. Maybe I'll take a nap, and lessen the boredom I'm feeling right now.

I stared at the ceiling of my room, thinking about the girl next door.

She intrigued me, her place is not exactly big but the furniture inside sure is expensive.

Is she living with a boyfriend? A husband perhaps? Nahh, she looks young to have a husband. Well, in this country you can get married at 18 so that could be a possibility. But still, I'm crossing my fingers.

Hmm, what to do, what to do? Why am I always alone on Friday night?

Six weeks more before school starts, I should be at parties every night but who am I kidding, I only have one friend which is Sam whose parents always take her to a bible study every Friday, and for that, I appreciate my parents more for leaving me alone on a Friday night.

I found myself in front of my neighbor's door, my insides were debating if I should knock or just forget about it.

Screw it, I wanted to see her.

I press the doorbell once and count to three, if after three nobody opens it, I'm leaving.

1,

2,

3.

When the person on the other side opens the door,

"Oh hey, Jen!" She had the biggest smile, I swear. Is she happy to see me?

"Hi, Em. I-uhm, I remember a beautiful girl invited me a week ago that if I'm bored or something I should come and visit and well, I am. Just checking if the offer still stands." Could I be more awkward?

The next thing I knew, she was chuckling.

"What?" I asked her confused.

"Well, you could breathe, you know." She was laughing and I can't help but laugh with her.

"Yeah, that is. Uhm, It's uh." My god, what is happening to me? The last time I was lost for words was the day my Mom caught me reading Playboy magazine.

"Come on in, Jen." She was still laughing and maybe she was thinking what a weird kid I am.

I don't want her to think I am like that, I need a punch line or at least some words that say I am mature enough to hang out with her.

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to disturb you or anything." Gladly I recover, though I know for sure the blushing on my face says otherwise.

"It's fine Jen, I just came home actually, and planning to prepare a dinner." She walked me to her living room and gestured to sit on the couch.

"Well, my Mom told me, I may not be an A student but I'm a star in the kitchen, mind if I help you?"

I stand and go straight to her kitchen with her following behind me.

"Really? Ok then, who am I to disagree with your Mom." She was grinning when I faced her.

"You know, I wanted to meet your Mom, she seems to have a lot to say about you."

She was teasing me and that helped me get back my confidence.

"Yeah, I am her favorite daughter so prepare your ears when you meet her."

I checked her fridge and took out some vegetables and beef in the freezer.

"How many siblings do you have?" she asked handing me the chopping board and knife.

She's asking me personal questions, maybe this is my chance to ask her the same.

"We are three girls and I am the youngest, how about you?" I know she already mentioned that she has a sister but I still wanted to know more about her.

"We are three as well, two girls and one boy, I'm in the middle. What are you cooking by the way?" She sat on the stool in front of the island counter and watched me dice the garlic.

I stopped for a minute and looked at her, "I'm going to cook you stir fry veggies with beef, are you living alone here or do you have a boyfriend, husband maybe?" Tried to act normal and I hoped she didn't feel like I was fishing for information about her.

She showed me her hand with no ring, indicating she was not married, felt a little relieved by the way.

"And no boyfriend. Wait, how old do you think I am?" her hands were on her waist, and judging by her looks she was trying to intimidate me by pretending to be offended.

I was half smiling and looked at her, "Well..." I tried hard not to laugh and pretend to have difficulties figuring out her age, next thing I knew her hands were in my arm hitting me.

I burst out laughing, trying to avoid her hands.

"Oh my god! Really? I look that old??" She was still hitting me and I take that as a good sign that this soon-to-be closeness, friendship, or whatever it is will turn out into something.. ughh I don't want to jinx it.
