It was now officially the weekend, thank goodness. I now had so many cuts on my ankles I didn't know what to do. My mom was "exercising" again and that was never good. Sometimes I wonder if she still has a job, or if she's a prostitute. The electricity is still on so that's good. When I walked out into the kitchen it was around noon
"Hey kiddo." It was Skipper, I don't take the time to learn their names so I just call them all Skipper
"Hey Skipper."
"Why did you call me that?"
"I don't know. What do you do for a living?" I said getting a glass of orange juice.
"I'm a pilot."
"Oh so your on your layover to get laid over." I said walking away
I heard nothing. He didn't have a decent enough pick up line.
When I got back to my room I grabbed my knife and sat down on the ground.
Why do I do this? I asked myself. I don't feel any better but it doesn't make me feel bad. It does nothing for me. I called Autumn
"Hello?" She said
"We need to stop."
"What?"
"The cutting it's bad and we need to stop now before it gets out of hand."
"I don't know if I can."
"What is your record for not cutting?"
"A couple of days why?"
"You know how you love to read?"
"Yah."
"I'll be at your house in ten."
After I got changed I hopped on my bike and headed out. I didn't bother to leave a note for mom because she's busy.
When I got to Autumn's house she opened the door and looked so confused.
"What are you doing here, you know you don't explain things very well." She said as we climbed up the stairs. When I got to her room I walked over to her book shelf, it was filled with books all different shapes and sizes.
"What book are you reading?" I asked looking around.
"I'm reading In the Night it's over here on my bed." She said grabbing her book "Please just tell me what you are doing."
"Ok, sit down. What I'm going to do is take your book. You can't read it until you break your record of not cutting. I will check your ankles everyday to make sure you aren't cutting."
"What?! No! April just found out her brother is getting open heart surgery!"
"Well then he's going to have to do it without you. Give me the book and the knives."
"Ok." She said while handing over the book, when she finished getting all of her cutting supplies out of the room I put them all downstairs.
"This is going to work I promise."
"I don't know."
"I'm going to take a picture of your cuts everyday to make sure you don't cut."
"My record is four days by the way."
"Ok, four days and don't read."
After I took the picture I left. When I got home my mom was still exercising with her pilot gross. When I walked into my room I cleaned it up and started my homework. I need to tell someone it's hurting keeping in this secret. I called Kyle, he said that he would be here in twenty.
After I changed into decent cloths he was here. I welcomed him in and he brought wine for my mom, that is exactly what she needs.... When he came into my room I pored each of us a glass
"Um..."
"It's five o'clock somewhere."
After that I said that I needed to tell him something
"What?" He said
"Well..."
After I told him everything he just hugged me.
"Why?"
"I don't know."
After he just kissed me, maybe it was a wine or the fact that I'm a little depressed but his kiss felt like the best thing in the world. I kissed him back.
After a while Kyle said he had to go. After I walked him out the door I went back to my room and texted Autumn
"Have you cut?"
"Nope."
"Good."
Everything was finally going back to normal.
