My soft pink dress swung around the top of my knees. The straps dug into my skin a bit but I left it and played around with some of my makeup. Filling in the dark eyebrows I own, and applying bronzer, mascara, concealer, and chapstick. It sounded like more then it was. I love ice skating and to drive all the way to LA just for the activity was exciting.
Luke walks into the bathroom in one of his old band tee's and black skinny jeans, and boy did he look incredibly handsome in just that. A beanie accessorized his head along with a jean jacket, with that and his combat boots he was looking like a whole man. My man. "Don't you think you'll be cold." He runs a hand over my shoulder causing goosebumps to rise.
Smiling at him through the mirror I point out my own jacket that rests on the hook. "I'll be okay. Do you need me to hurry so we can leave? Traffic is going to be bad."
"Take your time Summer." He leaned his head onto my shoulder, pressing his chest against me. We weren't that far apart in height, maybe eight or seven inches. His smell is everywhere and I craved the sweet musk.
"Well I'm pretty much ready." I lean into him and reach for his hands wrapping them around my waist. "Luke."
"Yeah, baby?"
"Isn't it funny how were together now. I mean, you hated me." I laugh dryly at that thought. "Am I really that terrible on the outside?"
"No. Baby that was just me being grouchy from the lack of sleep." He hugs me tight. "I could never hate you. Besides every time we spend the night with each other I can sleep."
"Same. I think it's because there is someone around me that I know will be there." I trailed off into space for a moment thinking of who's not there. My parents, Kai, Benji, even Katelyn. "Does that make sense?"
"Yes. That's the same way I think about it." He preps kisses on my neck making me squirm. "Noooo come back." Luke reaches out for me and I pull away.
"Hey, that tickled." I frown playfully. We laugh and I put on my jacket. Luke's truck takes us through the miserable LA traffic and we make it to the skating rink sooner then we thought.
As Luke pays for the skates I latch onto his arm. "Thank you for this. Every single girly inch of me loves this." He lets out a soft laugh and nods, guiding us over to the benches to slide on the skate. Note that this was more difficult then I thought it'd be. This seemed to be a simple task for Luke and his big feet, yet my own big feet couldn't handle it. "I swear I'm a size 9!"
My boy laughs from below me and helps me push the skates on. When he helps me to the feet I wobble a bit and grab his broad shoulders for stability. "You do know how to do this right?" Luke raises his brow laughing.
"It's been a few years, but I can do this." I mutter already beginning the journey to the ice. It's not packed considering it's the day before Christmas Eve. Usually it's busy during the holidays.
"Here take my hand. Don't lean into me just let me guide you." Luke gives me his hand that I take gently. We wobble stepping into the ice but Luke gets it under the control and glides by himself. I watch him concentrate. Tongue poked out, playing with the black ring on his lower lip. I lean against the wall and laugh when he almost falls into a little girl.
When he returns to me I grasp his arm and try to take small steps next to him but slip. "No!" I screech and pull him down with me. I mentally give myself a thumbs up for wearing shorts underneath the dress.
Luke groans but stares at me and begins to cackle, throwing a whole fit of laughter. I frown at him and attempt to stand up with the wall. Luke stands easily and helps me, still laughing. "This isn't funny." I whine.
"Sorry baby, you're too cute." He ruffles my hair and pats my butt. I give him a knowing look. PDA has never been something I enjoyed. "Sorry." He blushes.
"I know I'm cute." I state sticking out a tongue.
"Oh, sassy Summer. That's new."
"Mhm." I quip.
We continue on with our date, enjoying one another, laughing at each other's silly moves. Most importantly we forget about our problems. No talk about parents. No talk about insomnia. Just us talking about one another. Things we love, things we hate. It's sentimental and cheesy, but needed. And I can't deny the fact that I'm falling in love with Luke.
