I do as the deviant says and kneel, praying that someone radioed for backup. My eyes flicker to the loose floorboard on the opposite side of my room that conceals a gun.

The deviant steps over Sammy and slowly walks over to me. I spot Zeke lying still in the hallway and feel nauseous.

The deviant stops behind me and crouches down. I turn my head to the side to keep him in my field of vision but he seems to have melted into the darkness.

"Put your hands behind your back." He orders.

I jolt a little at the sound of his smooth voice being so close.

"Did you kill them?"

Sammy I know is simply malfunctioning. But I'm not so sure of the fate of the officers in the hallway.

"No," he replies after a short pause, "now put your hands behind your back. I won't ask again."

I take in a deep breath before lunging forward. I almost make it to the hidden gun before I'm picked up and flung back across the room.

I land on my bed and my head narrowly misses the wooden headboard. I try to scramble up but I'm forced down into the soft linen of my bed covers. I find myself staring directly into the chocolate brown eyes of the deviant.

His hands are clasped around my wrists above my head and his knees lie either side of my hips

His hands are clasped around my wrists above my head and his knees lie either side of my hips. Besides from that, our bodies aren't touching, but his hold is strong enough to prevent me from escaping.

"I don't want to cause you unnecessary pain, but I will if I have to."

I remain motionless underneath him.

"You plan on getting to my father by getting to me, don't you?" I begin slowly, "You're going to use me as a weapon against him."

The deviant tilts his head ever so slightly but says nothing.

"If that's your plan, you may as well let me disassemble you right here."

His jaw clenches in response to my statement and he pulls me to my feet. He yanks his tie off and swiftly uses it to bind my hands together behind my back.

"I think it's time we left," he says coldly into my ear.

The deviant starts to pull me towards the door. This time I do try to fight free. I can't leave Sammy. He's in no fit state to run or fight and whoever, or whatever, finds him lying there will no doubt destroy him.

"Please," I cry, looking desperately from the deviant to Sammy, "he's one of your own. If you leave him here he'll die."

The deviant hesitates for a fraction of a second and this lapse in concentration nearly costs him his life. Two XPR0 androids appear in the doorway.

"Deviant identified! Deviant identified!" They chant in sync.

The deviant just has time to shove me to the ground before one of them launches itself at him. With my hands bound tightly behind my back, all I can do is watch helplessly as the deviant tries to prevent the XPR0 from tearing off his head.

"Little Miss?"

My head snaps to the other side of the room. I'd momentarily forgotten about the other XPR0; it has a stunned Sammy in a head lock.

"NO!" I scream.

Sammy appears to have regained some  normal control of his systems. He gives me a sad smile and stops trying to pry the XPR0's arm away from his neck.

"It's okay, Little Miss. We protect the ones we love. And I got to protect you."

Seconds after those words leave Sammy's mouth, the XPR0 grabs an umbrella from the floor and slams the pointed end into Sammy's chest. His head drops and his eyes go blank. The only true friend I've ever had is gone.

I stare at the blue blood seeping into my white carpet, barely registering the gunshots that kill both of the XPRo androids.

The deviant bends down in front of me, an unreadable expression on his face

"Do what you have to do," I tell him numbly.

"I'm sorry

"I'm sorry." He replies softly, before striking me in the neck where my carotid artery sits.

I fall unconscious into his arms.
