A/N:

Just in case some of you were confused, in chapter 1 where it said that people from school awaited for Hayden to die of cancer from her visits to the tanning salon, she doesn't go to a tanning a salon. She's never been to one but girls are jealous and don't believe her when she says she tans easily. They made up the tanning salon rumor.

To avoid any other confusion, I've decided to make Hayden's conversations with her wolf bold and italicized. When she says/thinks something to herself, it'll just be italicized. I've gone back and changed this in the other chapters as well.

On with the chappy!

(Hayden's POV)

"Do I have to go?" I whined.

"Yes! Ugh, you're worse than Ryder."

"Harsh."

"How so?"

"He owes me a puppy..." I trailed off.

"What?"

"Ya, I had this puppy with me who was my first friend in a long while and when I woke up just to find Ryder in boxers and then he changed into a wolf, I fainted before I could search for my puppy."

"Oh, umm... that's something else that will be explained at dinner."

"I'm beginning to hate dinners."

"Don't be silly. Now, does that dress fit you?"

I looked down at the dress that ended above my knees and was a bit too short for my comfort, me being a girl who didn't wear short dresses.

"Why am I wearing a dress to this dinner? And a short one at that?"

"To look good for Ryder. Not that you need to try to get his attention. You are mates and are attracted to each other."

"Um, one, I don't want to look good for Ryder and two, the only part of me that's attracted to him is my fist. Because I would really like to punch him."

Don't say that! Jasmine reprimanded.

"The dress looks good on you! Really!"

"Can I just have some more casual clothes?" Gigi huffed.

"No problem." She came back into the room with some jeans and a simple gray t-shirt.

"Much better."

"You know you really could-"

"Gigi."

"Alright! Okay! I'm just so happy that Ryder found his mate. I promise you all your confusion will be gone by the end of the dinner. Hopefully by then you won't be so overwhelmed with information that you'll want to run away."

"Gigi? You're scaring me."

"I'm just rambling. Don't listen to me."

"Okay then."

***

I slowly descended the stairs to meet my doom. I had to meet the parents of the boy who called me his mate and turned into a wolf. Can someone say, scary?

I rounded the corner into the dining room. This was a huge house. There was no way only one family lived here. I had to have Gigi draw me a map and even with it I had gotten lost. So now I was late for this dinner. Great first impression.

The dining room was filled with chatter. I saw Ryder standing by two people who I guessed were his parents. His mother was talking exuberantly and making plenty of hand gestures while his dad nodded along.
