Several hours later, Harry was still rubbing his neck. Draco had put him on the couch to rest after he had finished feeding. Harry didn't know how to feel when Draco slowly licked his neck to seal the bite. He glared at the vampire sitting in his favorite chair. "You know, you could have told me that you needed to feed. Instead of attempting to steal my essence." Harry rolled his neck as he pulled the curtains aside. The charm had been successful. He had seen Ginny and Hermione outside, wandering about. Trying to find the house.
"Essence of Potter. You could sell that for a small fortune," Draco laughed. "My magic works better when I'm satisfied, Potter. And blood tastes better when emotions are high. Love, hate, surprise. They all have separate flavors. The fact that yours changed from surprised to something else is interesting though."
"What do you mean, it changed? Changed to what?"
"Maybe someday I'll tell you," Draco said nonchalantly.
Harry rolled his eyes and looked at the clock. It was almost time for dinner. "So, now that the charm is finished...," Harry started.
"No, thank you," Draco interrupted. "I'll not be leaving just yet." He looked around the sitting room before lounging deeper into Harry's chair. "I like it here. I've done you a favor, you should at least do me the kindness of enjoying my company. Unlike you, I've been alone for a long time. I left my family after my change. Granted it was for their own safety. I was completely uncontrolled after I was attacked."
"Why do you want my company?" Harry grew a bit suspicious. He was concerned that he was wrong to have trusted Malfoy in his house.
"You're the only person I know, Harry," Draco said slowly, not realizing that he had slipped and called him Harry not just Potter. "It's been rather nice, just having another person to talk to. Other vampires are strange to me. I'm considered less because I'm a hybrid. I'm not accustomed to being an outcast. Maybe this is my penance for being cruel to others in my youth."
Harry considered his words for a bit before responding. "What do you mean hybrid? Aren't all vampires technically a hybrid? No one is born that way."
"Yes, Potter," Draco said rolling his eyes. "But some of us are born with veela blood in our veins, so transformations affect us differently."
Harry was dumbfounded. He didn't know that Malfoy was part veela. After he thought about it, it did kind of make sense. Sort of. A little bit.
"Would you like to stay for dinner?," Harry asked. Malfoy looked at him in surprise for a moment. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. That's rude. I don't imagine you actually eat regular food."
"I'd like to stay," Malfoy said. Interrupting Harry's babbling.
