'And it won't stop boom boom ooooo ooooooooo' I sang along to the playlist on my phone as I stood washing dishes and looking out the kitchen window.
It was the weekend and I planned on relaxing with snacks and a few good movies. This was the norm being that I was once again single. My ex, Von, decided to call it quits giving some tired excuse about my being to much woman for him and that he needed to work on himself. Yeah right! That's what he said but two days ago I spotted him hugged up and whispering in the ear of some chick in subway. He was probably lying to her about his $5 foot long when it was more like the $3 one that comes in the kids meal. Anyway, I digress.
Just as I washed the last dish a call came through interrupting my music and thoughts."Hello friend" I said smiling because I knew Tasha was calling to tell me about the guy she'd met last night.
"Hey September, what are you up to girl?" Tasha asked.
"Nothing much girl, finishing up these dishes. What's up?" I asked wiping the cabinets down and hanging the dish towel on the rack.
"Well...you know i met someone last night and girl he is SO fine. He's 6'2, light skinned with dreads!! Wait a minute let me turn the air on because I'm getting hot and bothered just thinking about him" she said.I laughed and shook my head. I loved my friend who's actually more like a sister to me. We met at a party a few years ago that a mutual friend of ours was throwing for her husband. We were seated at the same table and when she dissed this Jheri curl wearing dude for invading her personal space with his tired pickup lines he didn't sweat it, he simply moved on to the next victim. You guessed it...me.
"Hey girl, I'm back. So anyway Tem, you should have seen him and honey the way he moved behind me on the dance floor...i could have gotten naked right there!" She sighed loudly.
"What's wrong Tee?" I asked.
"He didn't even kiss me goodnight Tem. I mean what's up with that? We hit it off, danced all night, had drinks but when it was time to say goodnight...NOTHING!" She yelled.
"Well Tee maybe he was being a gentleman. Not every guy thinks about sex on the first night." I tried to reason. The other end of the line got extremely quiet so i guess she was thinking about what i had said.
"Girl if you don't shut that shit up! Every man thinks about sex on the first night, whether they get it or not is OUR decision." She stated. She has a point i thought to myself as i laughed and shook my head.
"True, true. When are you seeing him again?" I asked putting her on speakerphone and pulling up my email scrolling through them.
"Weeeeeell, he wants to have dinner tonight but his best friend is in town for the weekend looking at houses and not wanting to leave him at his place with nothing to do we thought maybe you two could tag along and keep each other company." She said without taking a breath.
"TEE!! Tell me you didn't already agree to this for me. I already have plans for this evening."
"What plans Tem? Movies and junk in your pajamas is not plans and besides you haven't been out since you and Von's meat head ass broke up. Come on please for me." Tasha begged.
I took a deep breath and blew it out rolling my eyes.
"Ok Tee, I'll go but if I'm not feeling it I'm out."
"Yeees!! Thank you friend. See you at 6pm." Tasha said followed by a click.
I KNOW this heffa didn't hang up on me. I checked the time on my phone seeing it was 3pm. Just great, I don't even have time for a nap.
