For the greater good

Hermione's pov:

I sat by the tree near the lake. Tears escaping my eyes as if there's no tomorrow. Why does all the bad things happen to good people? I was perfectly doing fine until now. I heard footsteps coming towards me and I tried to wipe my tearstained face.

In front of me were two very sympathetic people whom I also call my life. My two best friends.
"Harry, ron!" I cried as I engulfed them into a group hug. "Hermione....Dumbledore told us everything." Harry whispered in my ear.
"Everything is ruined harry... I don't know what to do or expect in the future. It scares me that a boy which I loathe will be my husband? I don't want to marry anyone Harry..." I clinged onto Harry's shirt.

"I know Hermione. Everything happened so suddenly and now there is this unusual future in front of you.. But remember one thing Hermione, some things happen for a reason.. We don't know that yet.. And even though I hate that ferret and his whole bloody family, it might have benefits of its own."

I stared at him. I was lost for words. Benefits? From The Malfoy's?!?
"They won't even think before killing a mudblood like me.. Let alone help us" Harry sighed.
"Hermione, I know how cruel and vile Malfoy and his father is... But Dumbledore wants to talk to you about this. Go meet him. The password is sherbet lemon."

Harry patted on my back and I started walking back to the castle. The news about this potion got spread everywhere like a wild fire. Everyone kept staring at me with pity. I told gargoyle the password and went inside Dumbledore's office.

"Ah! Sit down miss granger." I sat down not knowing what to expect from this talk.

"I know that you are having a really tough time, but sooner you realise and decide to work on it, it will get better. Now I'm telling you something which is between me and professor Snape only.
When lucius Malfoy was in Azkaban, The dark lord pressurized draco malfoy to get the dark mark to fulfill what his father failed to do. We don't know what that is but probably concerns with Harry and hogwarts. As coming from professor Snape, Draco is really Vulnerable right now. Emotionally unstable and is getting destroyed in the heart.
After all, he is a 16 year old boy. When I heard about the situation,  you did not deserve to get what was thrown at you but we need to work on what often is called as 'for the greater good' in the wizarding world.
Now, as you both are selected and head boy and head girl, you both will have a common room as per tradition. I want you to go easy on Mr. Malfoy because how he acts is influenced by the potion. I want you to get to know him, find out clues about mission and try to take him out of that and turn him to the lighter side.
Draco had no choice, but now he will have an opportunity to choose. You are considered his soulmate, and Malfoy's protect them till their last breath. So keep in mind miss Granger, you will get full protection from Draco if something bad happens.
Now about lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, they have no choice but to accept whatever will happen in the future.. Because if the curse is not fulfilled then both of your lives are in danger and they wouldn't want that. I informed them about this and they will meet me tomorrow. No need to concern about that.
I know that this is hard but you need to think upon this. You are not the brightest with of our age for nothing, Miss granger. I know you will think about the greater good." Said Dumbledore.

I lost my ability to think. I have to get to know what the dark lord is up to. I will have to presuade draco into the lighter side. And I will have to marry him one day due to the curse.

Becoming a Malfoy? Sure Lucius will be very happy when his only heir marries a mudblood. Pureblood lines getting destroyed? Exactly what Lucius would want. Then something hit me.

"what will happen to the Malfoy's when the dark lord finds all about this. They will be considered as traitors and their lives will be in danger.I don't want to harm anyone professor!" I said panicking.

"No one can say what the future holds ahead. All the death eaters are very well trained in occumulency so it will take time for the dark lord to find out. And that's why sooner we find clues about the mission less harm will be done." Dumbledore said while getting up from the seat.

"It's quite late Miss granger, go to your dormintory. Don't think too much, go with flow.The future belongs to those who fight for the right, dear.
"I gave a faint smile and left for the dormintory. Sleep was not going to be something which I will be getting today. So I sat on my bed reading my favourite book 'Hogwarts: a history'.
