Script (Spanish - English)

ESCENA PRIMERA

Los dioses y las diosas y las ocho musas mencionados. Llegan la musa Terpsíchore primeramente, y después las ninfas, las nayádes y las ondinas bailando y esparciendo flores al son de- las liras de Phoebus y de Erato y de la flauta de Euterpe. Después ;de Ia v dana todos se colocan á ambos lados del escenario.

FIRST SCENE
The gods and goddesses and the eight muses mentioned. The muse Terpsíchore arrives first, and then the nymphs, naiads and ondinas dancing and spreading flowers to the sound of Phoebus and Erato's lyre and Euterpe's flute. After that, all the people are placed on both sides of the stage.

ESCENA SEGUNDA
(Dichos y Mercurio. )

(Llega Mercurio y.quitándose de Ja cabexa el gorro frigio, habla:)

SECOND SCENE
(Says and Mercury.)

(Mercury arrives and, turning to the head of the Phrygian cap, speaks :)

MERCURIO:

lie cumplido ya tus mandatos, soberano Padre; Neptuno y su corte no pueden venir, pues temen • perder el
imperio de lo3 mares, á causa del actual arrojo de los hombres; Vulcano aún no ha terminado los rayos que le encargaste para armar al Olimpo y los está concluyendo;- en cuanto a Pluton ---

MERCURY:

I have already fulfilled your commands, sovereign Father; Neptune and his court can not come, because they fear losing the empire of the seas, because of the current courage of men; Vulcan has not yet finished the rays that you entrusted him to arm Olympus and is concluding them;

As for Pluto ...

JÚPITER :
(interrumpiendo a Mercurio.)

Basta! Tampoco- los necesito. Hebe, y tú, Ganimedes, repartid él néctar para que • beban. los inmortales.

JUPITER:

(interrupting Mercury.)

Enough! Neither- do I need them. Hebe, and you, Ganymede, distribute the nectar so that the immortals could drink.

(Mientras Hebe y Ganimedes llenan su cometido, llegan Baco y Sileno, éste á pié y aquél montado en una burra con el tirso en la mano y verdes pámpanos en las sienes, cantando:)

«El que vivir desea
•Y .divertirse,

Abandone á Minerva:
Mis viñas cuide ...

While Hebe and Ganymede fill their role, Bacchus arrives and Silenus, this one on foot and that one mounted on a donkey with the tirso in the hand and green branches at the temples, singing :)

«The one who wants to live
•And have fun,

Leave Minerva:
My vineyards take care ...

MINERVA:
(En alta voz.)

ïSilencio! ¿No ves que el poderoso Jupiter ha de hablar?

MINERVA:
(Loudly.)

Silence! Do not you see that the mighty Jupiter has to speak?

SI'LENO:
Y qtié? ¿Se ha enfadado el vencedor de los ' Titanes? Los Dioses toman el néctar: por consiguiente, puede cual-
quiera expresar su alegría de la manera como le plazca; pero ya veo que mi discípulo te ha ofendido y tomas por pretexto.
