Even though my eyes were closed, I could still hear everything that was going on. Alot of kids were crying, people were trying to get out, the guards were trying to make thinga as orderly as possible.

In the chaos, I felt some shadows loom over me. The started speaking to Axel, who was still holding me in his arms.

Though I could tell he would probably drop me in a few minutes.

"Is she gonna be ok Uncle Kir?" Axel asked.

There was a long pause. "I think so. She used an unprecedented amount of mana to save your mother. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't wake up for another month." The king, told him. I felt my body be picked up by larger hands.

Hey! I'm still awake. I tried to open my eyes, but to my surprise, it didn't work. I thought blacking out meant I would just wake up later like a nap. I don't wanna be conscious for all of this.

"I can't believe an elf child was here of all places." The queen mumbled. I felt someone pat my head and I resigned myself to being treated like a doll until I wake up.

"Where are her parents? You don't think she's the last elf?" A third, unfamiliar voice spoke. I assumed it was Axel's mom, Silvia.

I was placed unto a bed, and tucked in.

"I hope not," The king mumbled. And the I heard a door open and shut and I was left completely alone.

My mana would probably double when it fully recovered. I'm not surprised at all the leveling up I did. That was some serious magic. I really do need a magic teacher.

I wonder if the king would be willing to teach me.

And with that thought I blacked out. Or more accurately lost consciousness, seeing as I couldn't see anything in the first place.

When I woke up, it was already night. I sat up, throwing my blankets off of me. It wasn't too late, from what I could tell the sun had just finished setting. Had the party not been interupted by a kidnapping attempt, it would have still been going on.

I slowly got of the bed, taking note that I was still in my masquerade outfit, mask included. I smiled a bit, I still could have some anonymity when out and about om the street.

I walked out my room, to be met with two guards standing outsude my door.

"Halt" one shouted, spinning around and brandishing his spear. The other one just sighed and face palmed.

"That's the girl we're supposed to be protecting, dumbass."

The guy put down his spear and chuckled sheepishly. "Whoops,"

I smiled, showing that there was no harm done.

"What do you need, Little Miss?" The second guy asked.

"Can I speak with the king? I wanna go home but I know I'm not supposed to just leave."

"We'll ask," He said, bending down to be at my level, "don't worry. Just wait in your room. I'll come back with an answer."

The guard gave his partner a sharp look, one that could only be translated as don't do anything stupid, and walked off.

I walked back into my room, waving at the guard as I walked in. I sat on my bed, swinging my legs back and forth.

There really wasn't much for me to do except wait. I would use magic but even parlor tricks could be dangerous when I can't control output. So I ended up just sitting there and waiting.

I didn't have to wait for long, because soon there was a knock on my door.

"Come in" I said, looking at the door hopefully.

In walked the guard from earlier, the king, and his sister.

"Hello little one." Silvia said, smiling at me. I smiled back. The King smiled as well.

"My son says your name is Kate, may I call you that?" I looked at the woman confused.

"You're the sister to the king, why are you asking me for permission?"

The king chuckled. "Call me Kir, or Kiran if you feel extra formal. You have saved the life of someone extremely precious to me."

I looked at him, and then back at Silvia. "That didn't answer my question."

Silvia laughed this time. "Elves are normally very particular about their names. Names hold meaning and power over and elf. That's why I was so surprised when Axel said you gave him your name."

"Names hold meaning?" I asked confused, before clamping my mouth shut. Now they know that I have no knowledge of elf culture.

A worried look passed between the two.

"Where are your parents?" Kir asked

"I don't have any,"

"Where do you live? Who taught you magic?" Silvia asked, her look growing even more concerned.

"I live in the forest, Silver something."

She looked shocked. "Silverstream forest? That's full of dangerous monsters."

Kir spoke up. "So are you the Spirit of the forest?"

Spirit of the forest? I saw the title on my status, so I nodded.

"I don't know when or why people started calling me that though,"

The king looked shocked. "We thought the spirit of the forest was just a rumour. They were said to kill bandits who prey on the weak, and heal the injured. The injured always end up on the other side healed but missing twenty gold."

Ah, so thats how I got my name. A girl needs to make money somehow. I'm too young to enter a guild so I just police my forest. Bandits don't make it out with their lives, or their cash, and I have to charge the injured for the mana they cost me to heal them.

"Oh, that's me" is all I say out loud.

Kir sighs. "Do you want anything? Money, power? Your service can't go unpaid."

"Can I get a magic tutor?"

Kir and Silvia's mouths dropped open.

"We don't have any magical tutors for someone of your caliber. You used chantless spells, and the amount of mana used in those spells tops even our best mages mana capacity."

I groaned. "But that's the problem, I can't control my mana output. I didn't wanna use five thousand mp per spike. I need someone to teach me."

Their jaws could have hit the floor when they heard the exact number of my mp spending. They were probably too weak to sense the full scope, but they knew it was alot.

I doubt they thought that my mana output would have been more than most of the world's mana capacity.

"How are you even standing? That would mean you spent five hundred thousand mana." I shrugegd sheepishly, looking away from Silvia.

I looked at the king, who was looking at me, but it felt like he was looking through me. Was he looking at my status. Welp, I'm screwed.
