What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise" - Oscar Wilde

Judges, teachers.

and all the rest of you here that Havent been deemed important enouhg to have a glass of water

The quote I have chosen today is from the beloved irish author of the likes of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest . the quote in question being of course what seems to us as bitter trials are often belssings in disguise. ..... ironic is it not that this was said by an irish man who had syphilis, was treated with mercury which turned his teeth green and forced him to put his hand over his mouth when he laughed this fact then used against him in a court of law for at the time the horrible, unforgivable crime for being gay.

However I am not here to disparage the irony of the quote from a great man, I am here to discuss this quote in relation to personal and societal mental health.

There is a flaw in this quote in relation to this. Hardship is not always a blessing in disguise. Sometimes it is simply a hardship. We can take this from many examples from real life which I have been told are a bit graphic for this speech , as life and the negative aspects of this topic can often be

I decided to keep most of it because ladys and gentlement , and the waterless I am not ready to change the message of my speech for the purpose of winning id much rather the actual message get through. Because Ladys and gentlement I can resist anything, except temptaion: oscar wilde

How is the hardship that drives someone to suicide a blessing in disguise . How is the hardship that is panic attacks that keep you stuck in your bed whimpering or hiding in the bathrooms in a train or in school a blessing in deisguise. I ask you judges, teachers , the waterless

How is anxiety that stops you from doing things exactly like this , from standing up and saying I AM A HUMAN BEING I HAV EMOTIons I have feeling and I have opinions

when your own mental health and mental hardships prevent you from doing that , from doing this from proclaiming your humanity that is no blessing Thaaaaat is no blessing

blessing implies a divine gift, something so good it couldnt possibly achieved by humanity alone but no ,getting through mental illness , into a state of positive ental health.

Is something human beings, us living breathing feeling human beings can get through

These things these trials can very often be got through help. #

Humans need help from one another we are a group species a tribal species, we rely on one another and we should we should rely on one another to get through the bitter trials through to the good times, the times of positivity.

The bitter trials that is negative mental health and illness are expirienced by everyone ....unless youre some kind of superior emotionless inhuman creature. It is something that binds and unite all of us as humans .

to go through these bitter trials related to mental health and illness in my ooinion it is one of the strongest and most noble things we as teengaer you as adults or us as humans can do . in my opinion it shows the beauty of endurance of power of the sheer indominibility of humanity and human spirit.

the human life is incredible. And as my personal favourite Sir terry pratchett once said It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.and living as I said and have kind of hammered home in this speech , is full of hardships but we as humans we dont need the blessing" we dont need divine intervention

we human beings are the blessings in each others lives .

mental health is one of the most important thing s in modern western society . to round off my diatribe with a quote from terry pratchett Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.

So there fore back to the Oscar wilde quote

What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise

we humanity are the blessings. And as oscar wilde lay dieing the man he loved begged him to renounce his heresy and rejoin the catholic faith that oscar had written so many bad things about .

The hardship in this metaphor is his death , the blessing is not him returning to the god he himself said didnt exist it wasnt him goig to heaven, passing st peter and entering the pearly gates because as he said, none of his friends would be there. The blessin here is him. Him giving his partner peace of mind, settling his mental state and attempting to moving him to a state of positive mental healht

And we occasionaly may need to comprmse our own beliefs in order to be the blessing for others. And we as humans should always, almost always there are exceptions , place others over ourselves, strive to help others, again there are exceptions. You should always strive to be the blessing in dsguise in other peoples lives .

Thank you , judges , teachers and the waterless masses
