Teach me how to say "Goodbye"
To friends I talk to less
Because I have found new friends
More matching my interests
Teach me how to let it go
Like the leaves do their tree
Or the chicks tell the sparrow
"Goodbye, Mommy."
Teach me how to move on
From my old best friends
Instead of keeping them around
Until a hurtful end
How do I say "Goodbye"?
Or let my old best friends go?
Or know when it's best to just
move on, you know...
...how hard it is to say goodbye
that one poisonous word.
It sits on my tongue
for the most part unpreferred.
Teach me how to say "Goodbye"
And to let it go
To move on to new friends
Without getting so...
...upset that I left them
and betrayed their trust.
Or afraid that they will
now look at me in disgust.
