As I was giving him directions, I dialed her number. "Hello?" She mumbled. Ooh, I thought, I woke her up.
"Hey, don't worry about coming to get me, I've got a ride. We'll be there soon. Also, you're on speaker phone."
"Wait, Beth, why did you get in a car with someone you don't know? I'm gonna beat the shit out of you when you get here! I can't believe you!" She was my best friend, and she worried about me all the time, as did I. I worried about her, a lot too. It was just our nature towards one another.
"Al, chill!" I looked at Jamie to see him holding in his laughs. "I'm... in Jamie's car.." I was waiting for her reaction, yet, I didn't know what it would be.
She gasped, and I could practically hear her smile. "You're not just fucking with me, right? He's seriously driving you to my house right now?"
"I'm not joking, Allie, he's right here." I held my hand over the speaker. "Say hi." I whispered.
He cleared his throat. "Hey, Allison, it's Jamie. Don't worry, I'm looking after her, she'll be just fine."
"Holy mother of god." She said, causing us to laugh. "Is that really him??" She yelled, once again. I laughed harder.
"Yes, it's really him. I've gotta go, Al. I'll be there in about 15 minutes. Don't worry, okay?"
"My heart is screaming for you right now, Beth. Jamie, you better take care of her. She's like, the perfect best friend I've ever had, and if she dies, I'll die. She's perfect, just don't put her in danger." She said, in a joking tone, but out of seriousness.
He smirked. "I wouldn't ever dream of hurting Miss Collins, not in any way, shape, or form. Don't you worry. And I can see why you think she's perfect.. I've got a good enough idea, right now."
She inhaled suddenly, and said, "Awwww.. Beth, he's perfect!"
I laughed, and looked at him the whole time I replied. "He is.."
He smiled at me. "I can think of someone else that's as perfect as I am.." I blushed, and rested my hand on the arm rest. "Alright, Al, I'll be there soon, bye."
"Bye, guys." And with that, she hung up, leaving us in the silence of each other. I laid back and closed my eyes, reminiscing earlier events. I must say, I'm very blessed. I thought. I can't believe this is happening right now.. I met Jamie, and not only am I flirting with him, but he's flirting back. God, why is he so perfect.. what if we ever got together? Mom and dad would kill me.. he's "too old" for me. But, I do believe that we've got something, right now. And I'm not just saying that because of how much I love him as a celebrity.. this chemistry between us is beyond incredible.. I've never told anybody I loved them, like that. I don't love him as a lover at all.. but I think I have the potential to..
"Beth?" He whispered, snapping me out of my thoughts. His hand lightly touched mine. "You okay?"
"Yeah, just thinking.."
"About what? You can talk to me."
I trust him a lot right now.. "You.. and how much you've impacted my life.. and about how much I wish I was able to explain it to you.."
"Explain it to me.. I wanna know." His hand then fully covered mine. I then knew.. he was going to be here for me, and I knew indefinitely that I could trust him.
"See.. oh god, this is embarrassing.. but I've been single my whole life.. and you were always here.. indirectly, of course.. but like.. I don't know. Whenever I thought about you, and whenever I looked at you.. I didn't feel alone. At all. I felt like there was still hope for me. All of my friends would be heartbroken, and they would come to me so I could comfort them.. and I had to act like I was okay to them.. when I felt lonely the majority of the time.." I let a tear roll against my skin and land on my thigh. "And.. I don't like being lonely.." Beth, you sound like a total child. Chill.
Suddenly, he pulled the car to the side of the road, and parked it. I looked at him through my tears, and blinked rapidly to try to get rid of them. His gaze was fixed on me the whole time. "C'mere.." He murmured, reaching his arms out to me. I leaned into him, and his arms wrapped around my limp body.
"You're so different.. you comforted your friends after their heartbreaks.. while you had basically been heartbroken your whole life. Elizabeth, I'm sorry.." He mumbled against my ear. "You deserve the absolute best.. I'm so glad I was able to be here for you.. but now.. you've got me for real, this time. I know we don't know each other that well, but I feel like I've known you my whole life.. I'm not going anywhere. I promise."
His words came at me all at once, and I was trying to process everything. He was being very open with me, and I loved it. He slowly pulled back and locked his gaze with mine. "I barely know you, and seeing you cry is killing me." He held my cheeks in his palms, and he used his thumbs to dry my face, and I gazed at him through wet eyelashes. His thumbs slowed down, soon stopping, leaving my face in his hands. I've never kissed anybody, but I'm pretty sure this is what happens before people kiss each other.. they stare deeply into each other's eyes, and he slowly leans into you.. like he's doing right now. Holy shit. Our faces were centimeters apart, when my phone rang. We jumped away from each other, my heart pounding in my chest. It was Allie. I answered, trying to hide my anger.
"I'm worried about you guys, where are you?"
"Sorry, we're on our way.. don't worry.."
".. Alright. Honk when you pull in, and I'll come outside. Bye!"
"Bye." I hung up, and pinched the bridge of my nose out of frustration. I heard him sigh, as if he was aggravated as well.
"Beth.. I'm sorry." He sighed again, shaking his head. "I shouldn't have done that.. I mean, we barely know each other."
I wanted to cry just hearing those words come out of his mouth. I tried joking. "I mean, I was on board."
He smirked, and so did I. "Can I take you out? One night? If.. that's not any trouble.."
My face lit up hearing him say that. "Of.. course, you can."
"Here," He said. "Let me see your phone." I handed it to him, and that gave me time to wipe my face. Once he handed it back to me, I noticed a new contact in my phone. Jamie (: was the contact name.
"Text or call me whenever. Because, I'd really like to talk to you, again."
"I definitely will, Jamie. Definitely."
10 minutes later, we were in Al's driveway, and after he honked the horn, she scampered down the front steps, reaching his car. "Don't get out." He abruptly said. He got out of the car, and swiftly walked to my side, and opened the door for me.
"What a gentleman." Al said. He smiled gracefully.
"I agree. Thank you, Jamie."
"Of course, Beth. I better get going. It was nice meeting you, Allison." She bid him farewell, and just as we were about to go inside, I felt him lightly touch my lower back. "No hug?" He asked. I never even realized that he was just barely taller than me - my cheek came in contact with his jawbone. His arms wrapped tightly around me, and mine did the same. "Bye, gorgeous." He whispered against my hair.
I blushed. "Bye." I whispered. He soon drove off.

After I explained everything to Allie, she was caught up, and just as happy as I was. "This is great. You and him could be together, for all anyone knows!"
"I know.. it's great. I'm exhausted, Al, let's go to bed. Thank you for looking after me. It means a lot to me."
She turned the lights off in her room, and climbed in her queen sized bed beside of me. "My pleasure, you lucky bitch."
We soon fell asleep, while I dreamed of the man I've loved from the very beginning.
