Dusk and Dawn

I left my love back home
In the middle of the deadened night
the air nips at my ears

She sparkles like the morning dew
But the inconvenience of wet shoes
Soaks into your socks, eventually

So now I'm laying wide awake
In an overpriced suite
Next to my latest regret

The room smells of spilled champagne,
Perfume, and cannabis
It masks the melancholy night

And sleep is not my friend
My mind becomes overrun
The city sparkles through the drapes

It reminds me of the morning dew
And the late mornings in bed with you

And now I'd rather wet socks than drugs and wet carpet
