college talk,,, that shit is kinda boring haha

"DON'T YOU GUYS FUCKING KNOCK?!" Mackenzie yelled, crawling off of Johnny's lap and walking towards the door, shutting the door in their faces.

"Was that..."

"Yes, it was, and you have to go." She rushed out, pushing him towards the window, running back to where he tossed his shoes and throwing them at him.

"Wait, Kenz, I wanna meet them."

Mackenzie laughed, "No, Johnny, you really don't."

"Why not?!"

"They're annoying, embarrassing, and crazy judgmental."

"I can handle it."

"No you can't, you can barely handle me!"

"I can handle you!"

"Johnny, just go!"

"No."

"John, now is not the time for one of your 'bad boy' points to prove, I don't want you to meet them!"

Johnny crossed his arms over his chest, "I don't care."

"Johnny. Go home." Mackenzie grumbled, narrowing her eyes.

Johnny leans in, their lips practically touching as he takes a deep breath, "No."

"Oh, Johnny." Maddie exclaims, putting her hand over her chest, "It was very nice of you to make us dinner."

"Although the pasta is a little dry." Mackenzie's step brother, Tyler (an_ let's PLAY PRETEND OK) scolded, causing Mackenzie to roll her eyes.

"It was fine, John." She assured, patting his shoulder.

Johnny moves in closer to her ear and begins to whisper, "It's fine, Kenz."

"SO!" Tyler interrupts, "How long have you been with my baby sister?!"

"Ah, about 3 months, now."

"Hm."

"I've seen you guys all over instagr-" Maddie begins, being cut off by Tyler.

"I haven't seen you on there!"

Mackenzie's eyes widen as she picks at her food, "I-uh blocked you."

"But you didn't block Mad-"

"Yeah... she's getting there."

There's an awkward pause before Maddie opens her mouth again, "Johnny, mom told me you're a senior..."

He nods his head, "I am."

"What schools were you looking into?"

"UCLA, USC, Berkeley."

"Oh, so you're sticking to UC's?"

"Yeah..."

"It's nothing like Harvard, Yale, Oxford, or even Brown, but I guess Ivy leagues aren't for everyone..."

Mackenzie rolled her eyes, "Yeah, they're not."

"Speaking of, baby sis," Tyler said, "Oxford is doing great this time of year, how are your grades doing?"

Johnny nearly choked on a noodle.

"Oxford?! You're looking into Oxford?!" He whisper yelled with furrowed eyebrows.

Mackenzie looked over at him and shrugged, "I don't... know, really, I mean..."

"Of course she is." Maddie answered for her, "Our family is purely Ive league graduates, Kenzie's been whining about Oxford ever since she learned what colleges were."

Maddie and Tyler chuckled, as did Mackenzie, sarcastically.

"You didn't look into any, Johnny?"

"No, I didn't... I wanted to stay in California."

"Why is that?"

"Oh, I uh, have a k-"

"Close family. Very close. They're like so close." Mackenzie said, gripping his thigh under the table as a warning.

"I don't think that's a valid reason to not go to an Ivy League."

"Anyways, I don't think I could go to Oxford, maybe Columbia?"

"Columbia?!" Tyler asked, him and Maddie looked at each other before laughing.

"What's funny?"

"You don't want to disgrace this family by going to Columbia... you've already got a UC boyfriend..."

Mackenzie sighed, "Maddie-"

"T-that's okay." Johnny said, "Your standards are higher than me, that's fine."

"No, baby, that's not true."

"I'm just- gonna go." Johnny said as he slowly moved out of his chair and heading out the door.

Mackenzie felt her heart become heavier as tears began to drop down her face, "Why would you say that?!" Mackenzie asked, "You guys are both assholes." She mumbled, moving from her seat and jogging up her stairs.

Maddie began to follow her before feeling a hand from Tyler stopping her. "Leave her, it's for the best. She needs to focus."
