"Nothing happened, Scott. I promise."
"Why were you crying? What did he do to you?" Scott asked angrily.
"He didn't do anything!" I yelled.
Scott rubbed his face with his hand.
"So, you were crying for no reason?"
"I've been emotional lately and Tony is a hugger."
"Well, he needs to...not hug you!"
I paused.
"Are you jealous?" I asked.
"No!" He answered immediately. "Why the fuck would I be jealous of him?"
"Because he and I have a daughter together."
"That's... no. I'm not jealous of him. I'm just pissed off that when he walks in the room, you go weak at the knees and practically fall in his arms."
My mouth fell open in shock.
"That does NOT happen!"
"That's exactly what happens, Emily! That's EXACTLY what happens."
I didn't speak.
"Do you still have feelings for him?"
"Of course I do! He was the first man I've ever loved. I have a child with him!"
"I thought I was the first man you ever loved?" Scott asked.
He moved closer and whispered.
"You lost your virginity to me."
"I know that!" I yelled. "I was 17, Scott! I didn't know what love was! I didn't know what love was until I met Tony."
Scott looked down and shook his head.
"I can't be with a woman who still has feelings for her ex."
"Scott, they're never going to go away. I'm always going to love him." I whispered.
"Well then, I guess I'm out. You didn't need me anyway."
"Scott that's not-"
"Save it, Emily." Scott said, holding his hand up. "Whatever you're about to say, don't say it. I've had enough of him being put ahead of me. Zoey, that's fine. Your child comes first, I get that, but your ex shouldn't come ahead of your boyfriend."
"I never put him ahead of you!"
"You spent all morning baking him cupcakes, Emily!" Scott yelled.
"I made you cupcakes on your birthday too!"
"That's my point! I'm done arguing with you."
Scott went to get his coat and slipped it on.
"I'll get my stuff together tonight when I get home, I'll be gone by tomorrow morning."
"That's not what I want Scott." I said sadly.
"I know." He replied. "It's what I want."

8:00 PM"He left. He doesn't want to be with me anymore." I said through tears.
I was leaning on my mother, who had her arms wrapped around me protectively, like she used to when I was small.
I called her and asked her to come over after she got off of work.
"He's just upset, honey. I'm sure he wasn't serious about leaving."
