The gravity of the situation

I wake up to the sound of Lucy crying. I have my arm draped over her still so I can feel her fighting the tears. I open my eyes and see the tears running down her face. She looks like she still asleep. I gently pull her close and kiss her and she whimpers. I hold her firmly and whisper in her ear soothingly "it's ok. I'm here." She seems to wake up then

"Natsu?" She whimpers

"Yes Luce. I'm here. It's ok." I say calmly and hold her close. She places her hands over mine and nuzzles her back into my chest and wiggles her head under mine.

"Thank you Natsu. Just hold me close. As close as you can." She says with pain in her voice. I wrap my arms around her tightly and rest my head on hers and I hear her sigh contently.

"Why were your crying luce?" I ask softly

"I was having a nightmare about my past. I don't want to explain it right now. I just want to go back to sleep." She says sadly.

"Ok luce. Sleep. I'll be right here with you." I say softly and kiss her gently on the cheek.

"Thank you Natsu." She says blissfully and closes her eyes.

I watch her attentively as she falls asleep. Once she was asleep I let myself fall asleep as well.

The next morning I wake up with Lucy still in my arms. I look at her and kiss her gently and she wakes up, looks at me and smiles. She turns around and wraps her arms around me and squeezes me tightly.

"Natsu. I was crying last night because of my dream. I was dreaming about the so called friend my parents left in charge of me and the company. He was reckless and abusive. I hated him so much, I still do. He's the reason I ran away and became homeless." I hear Lucy say and starts to sob

"What did he do to you Lucy?" I ask with concern

"More like what didn't he do! The only thing he didn't do was rape me but he did try. That's where I drew the line. When he tried I hit him with my lamp across the head and ran. I haven't seen him since." She cries and I feel my anger grow. "Natsu I can't face him again. Not after what he did. Even with you there. I don't know what I'd do. Part of me wants to just curl into a ball and cry and another part wants to beat him to a pulp because of everything he did. I don't want to do either! I just want to move on." She tells me with tears running down her face. I just grab her and hold her close and let her cry.

"Do you want me to take care of him Luce?" I ask softly

"What do you mean?" She sniffles and looks at me

"Well like I took care of those guys that hurt you."

"What did you do to them Natsu?" She asks with a bit of fear in her voice

"I'd rather not say. Let's just say you'll never see them again."

"You didn't kill them did you?!" She asks now visibly scared

"No luce! Never! I couldn't and wouldn't kill them. I just made them suffer and shipped them off somewhere far away." I admit to her now feeling bad about my actions

"Natsu....I know what they did was wrong and they definitely deserved whatever you did but please don't end up in jail or hurt because of me." Lucy says sadly

"Luce," I smile at her "money equals power today. I could do whatever I want and get away with it for the right price." I say with a big evil grin

"Ok, that's good to know but also wrong." She shivers "imagine a filthy rich deranged maniac. That's scary!" She shudders in fear.

"Your safe with me Luce so don't worry." I say comfortingly and hug her tightly

"Natsu we are going to have to face him when we do I want you to have him sent far away from me but don't hurt him unless he tries to hurt me. Ok?"
