Post Civil War. Just a little lovey dovey moment between nat and the reader (I am aware that it is no we're near Christmas, I just thought the concept was cute). I will try to post more soon!!

(Y/N) sighed in contentment as she and Natasha walked down the snow covered pavement of the sidewalk, hand in hand. Though she held a small smile on her frozen cold face, she couldn't help but worry about the risks they were taking by walking out into the open.

The government was still on their asses, and though they had basically made it seem like they had disappeared off of the face of the earth, only remaining in contact with Steve during weekly check in's, even after they moved into the smallest mountain town they could find, worry still manged to itch its way under her skin til she became paranoid all over again.

She couldn't help but worry, worry that the love of her life would be taken from her. But Natasha was always there to keep (Y/N) busy, to reassure her of how safe they were.

And for a few moments, (Y/N) actually believed it, but then paranoia and anxiety would come rushing back from time to time. Just like it was this very moment.

"It's nice, isn't it?" Nat asked, gesturing to all the Christmas lights that were hung up outside of the local shops, signally that the holiday that was nearing. "yeah.. it's fucking cold though.." (Y/N) replied pessimistically as she felt small snowflakes gathering in her boy cut hair. "Why did we have to come out her again?" (Y/N) asked, surveying her surroundings.

Natasha rolled her eyes, "We needed to get out of that cabin, it was getting too stuffy in there.. We also needed a few more groceries.." (Y/N) internally groaned, Damn she has a good point.

They, much to (Y/N)'s discomfort, slowly made they're way to the entrance of the store. (Y/N) began to walk in, but was surprised by Natasha who stood in place.

"What is it?" (Y/N) asked in a worried tone. Natasha smiled and pointed towards the ceiling, at the mistletoe. (Y/N) quietly let out the breath she had been holding and let out a small chuckle.

"I heard it's bad luck if you don't kiss under the mistletoe." Natasha said in a sultry manner, leaning towards her girlfriend. (Y/N) rolled her eyes jokingly and leaned down towards the shorter female, connecting their lips together.

For a moment or two, it felt like they were on top of the world. Time was frozen and it was just the two of them in their own space.

(Y/N) longed for moments like this, where she felt like she didn't have to worry, like she and Natasha were out of harms way.

It felt like nothing could ruin this moment.

Until something did.

The buzz of her phone broke the couple from their passionate kiss. With a groan, (Y/N) pulled the old flip phone from her pocket.

With a knowing sigh, Natasha gave (Y/N) a kiss on the cheek, "I'll go inside and start getting the groceries. Come meet me when you're done" she said before entering the store.

(Y/N) tiredly rubbed her forehead and answered Steve's call "What's up Steve?" She asked, trying to sound innocent.

"You know what's up.. You were late on your call" He said in an annoyed tone. "I know Steve.. I just have a lot of things going on that I just spaced out on it.."

He was silent for a moment.

"(Y/N), our check ins should be top priority. No excuses.."

There was a long silence. (Y/N) swallowed the lump in her throat, "Nat wants to adopt"

"A pet?"

"A child.."

Steve sighed, "You know that's not a good idea." (Y/N) huffed out a laugh, watching the smoke from her breath rise and disappear into the air, "I tried to explain that to her but you know how she is-"

"Stubborn" Steve stared.

"Yeah" (Y/N) chuckled in agreement, "plus if Clint and Laura could do it, maybe we can..". She could feel Steve's worrying radiating through the phone.

"Well whatever you guys decide to do, make sure it's the right call"

"Always do.."

"Alright (Y/N), talk to you next week."

"Okay. Bye Steve."

"Bye (Y/N)" then the line went dead. (Y/N) groaned and rubbed her face in a small attempt to warm herself up. She groaned and began pacing back and fourth, contemplating the pro's and con's of adopting, like she has everyday since Natasha asked her two months ago. She didn't realize how long she had been thinking til she nearly jumped when a hand softly grabbed her shoulder, and relaxed when she realized it was only Natasha.

"You okay?" She asked, sliding her hand back into (Y/N)'s. She nodded solemnly in reply.

It wasn't long until they began they're small journey back home. And it wasn't long until
(Y/N) came to a conclusion.

Soon they would be called into action again, called to fight in battles that may cost them their lives, but that wasn't now, and right now she only wanted to spend her time with Natasha.

So she gave in, there was no harm in living out the fantasy world they had created for themselves, as long as the were prepared for when they needed to go back into the real world.

Sometimes she wished that time could be frozen on moments like this. The moments where she realized how much she loved Natasha, she wished she could savor this feeling.

She wished she could savor Natasha for the rest of her life, however long that may be.
