12 February 2017

Victoria was sitting in the shade of a tarp while watching the swap-meet bustle around her. Mothers pulled their daughters along when the child became distracted by a pretty necklace or an old Hot Wheels track. Teenagers that most definitely should've been in school were running around trying to shoplift or start trouble. They reminded her of herself and her brothers.

She tilted her head and smiled fondly at them before turning her gaze to Yoongi, who was trying to make a sale in broken English. Victoria would have jumped in to help, but he'd made it very clear that he wanted to get better at the language and had to practice if it was gonna happen.

He was slightly leaning over the table lined with various candles and holding a pink one—Rose Lychee—up to a middle-aged woman with mocha skin. The woman was smiling at him, probably because his accent was cute and he was handsome. Victoria felt no need to become jealous. She knew Yoongi only had eyes for her.

After he had successfully made the sale and the woman had walked away with her Soohyang bag, Victoria placed a gentle hand on Yoongi's arm. He turned around and smiled widely at her, sliding his arms around her waist and resting his face in the crook of her neck.

The grass beneath their feet offered a cushion that made them feel like they were flying in each other's arms. Around them, other shops continued to function. That was something they liked about Canada—they could full-on make-out in public and nobody gave a rat's ass. Better yet, they weren't living in fear. There weren't any gangs or scary people after them.

Yoongi must have apologized a thousand times the first week they were in Victoria. Even when they were leaving for Ontario, he kept peppering her face with kisses and saying how much he loved her and how incredible she was. Most of his guilt stemmed from him being the primary reason why her shop was burnt to the ground along with her father's candle.

He left feathery kisses on her skin and sighed. "Babe."

Victoria smiled and smoothed a hand over the back of his neck, watching the sun begin to set behind the many other tents. "What is it, love?"

"I'm horny," he said in his low, gravelly voice. "Fix it."

She laughed and pressed against him teasingly. "Here? I don't think that would be appropriate."

Yoongi pulled away a bit to peck her lips. "Then why don't we pack up and go home, love?"

"Sounds like a plan," she murmured before pressing her lips against his again.

Home was a small apartment they were paying for through Airbnb. Of course, their time in the country was limited because they were technically visiting, but they figured they'd go somewhere else after. Maybe Hawaii, as Yoongi suggested the previous night.

Regardless, the two were happy. The unfortunate part was that they thought it would last.
