After pointing us in a direction, Abigail gave us a couple bags of supplies and set us off. She also gave us a "slate" which works like a phone. Why did she shriek at my phone, they're basically the same. I thought to myself with mild annoyance. Kyle was looking at the slate and thought the same thing. "Dude, this is like a phone. Can send messages, call, and looks at a map." He said as he put it in his pocket, and looked at me. "You look annoyed." He chuckled as I rolled my eyes. After a few hours we approached a forest area. As we got close Kyle stopped me. "Hey uh, we are in like a different world and everything. Think there are any monsters in there?" He said, instantly making my heart drop. He lifted his hand and water came from it again. "At least we can defend ourselves if there is." He said as he looked at the water, then to me. Wish i could share your confidence. I thought to myself as he started walking in. To make sure I can still use fire and lift my hand. The flame appears, but is still small. We start making our way through and it is actually peaceful, in the paranoid-something-is-gonna-jump-and-eat-you sort of way. I remained by him for most of the trip. We didn't get all the way through before nightfall so he had us stop in a semi-clear area. "Alright I think we're done for today. We got a good distance I'd say." He declared. "Alright, I'm gonna get some sticks. You be ready to light a fire." He said before walking off. I sat on the ground, fire still in hand so I'm not alone in darkness, I'm alone in mostly darkness. As I sit quietly listening for anything like the paranoid person I am, Kyle comes back in my line of sight. "Alright, lets begin." He said as he built a small tipi of wood. "See? It's just like camping. Now light it up!" He urged me. I stuck my hand under the wood and lit the wood, it slowly catching the blue flames and burning. I sighed as I sat back and Kyle pulled a small box out of his bag. I reached and pulled the slate out of his pocket to open the map up. Surprisingly, we are almost through the forest, and there are a few more towns on the way to "Draco Lacum". I raise an eye brow. "Alright." He tosses me a sandwich with something I'm not entirely sure what it is on it. "Not sure what it is, but we don't exactly have fast food anymore." Kyle said with a chuckle, ever the mind reader. I sighed and took a bite. It tasted like... nothing. No taste. I think Kyle had the same thing, he gave his a curious look. "That's... odd. Better than nothing" I raise my hand to sign to him.
'How you remain optimistic is beyond me' I sign, and he blinks at me.
"Its called... Making the best of things. Doesn't matter if things took a turn, or in our case, fall for the worse. We are here for a reason, might as well do it ya know?" I finish my sandwich as he says this. He soon finishes as well and we lay on the ground. "We should probably get to sleep, if we get up early we might make it in a couple days. I nod and look at the trees above me as I close my eyes.
I'm uhh.... really bad at filler. And time skips. had no clue what to do for a journey or something for them to get places. Next chapter will be more with Detective Domminik.
