Let's start off with a bang
if ya know what i mean ;))))))

I could hear Viren and Claudia walking away, and closing the big oak door that kept the prisoner inside. The clacking of Caludia's heels grew fainter and fainter as they proceeded further down the hall. This was my chance. I bolted from the corner and jiggled the door. Locked, damn.
I picked out a cord of metal that hung on my belt and picked the lock until it sprang open, allowing me to open the door silently. The Moonshadow elf looked up and grimaced. I sighed and walked closer, hands raised in a submissive manner.
"I am not here to hurt you." I tugged on my belt, pulling out a small hacksaw, and went to the side of him to cut the shackles.
"Commander Gren has already been freed and is alerting Commander Amaya. We must get out of here in that time," I said, grunting at the effort to cut the metal. The elf finally spoke up.
"Why are you here to help? I'm a prisoner, an elf from Xadia, no less." I didn't move my eyes from the bindings but smiled.
"I believe what you're doing is right, but you are not executing it in a way that is. The king is a good man, though he has committed some treasonous crimes. Viren is a cruel person, and the one who stole the dragon egg, instead of leaving it for the kingdom of Xadia. I also believe he is willing to trade his own offspring for the power invested inside the egg."
I cut open one chain and let out a breath of relief, my arm sore from the continuous back and forth motion. The elf let his hand fall to the ground, stretching it out a bit. He grabbed his blade and I muttered profanities, knowing that he could kill me.
But to my surprise, he handed me his sword.
"This will be more efficient in cutting open metal." I smiled a bit and grabbed the hilt, and in one swift motion, cut open the other shackle.
"Thank you." I handed him back the knife, as he pocketed in return.
"May I know your name?" I asked, looking at him as he got up, stretching his arms. The elf glanced at me absentmindedly and sighed before answering.
"Runaan."
"It's a pleasure, Runaan. I'm (Y/N). Although I'd love to stay and chitchat with you all day, we have to go to Xadia."
"And why would anyone in their right mind let a grown human in their borders." I furrowed my eyebrows and turned on a heel to face him.
"I was the one that saved you. You refused to eat, and sooner or later would have been killed, if it wasn't for me. At least show a little gratitude, alright?" I slowly turned back around, in a bit of a foul mood.
"I'll show you to the exit into the woods. We can navigate from there."

"Why do you hate people so much?" I asked, filling up my water flask and taking a drink, wiping my mouth wit the back of my hand soon after. Runaan crouched beside me and looked at the tree in front of us.
"They destroyed our only protector and stole his kin. We cannot forgive for such a reason." His white locks of hair blew in the gentle breeze, the river lapping at our feet.
"But it was one person that stole it. You killed another for the same reason. It would only make sense to kill Viren. Not the king, but what is done is done." I looked at the ground and picked up a flat rock, skipping it across the water. I rested my chin on a knee and furrowed my eyebrows.
"I don't hate Xadia. I don't hate elves. I don't hate people, dragons, or anyone else. But I do hate Viren."
"Why is that?"
"He murdered my parents and used their spirit to fuel his power." Runaan looked at me, startled.
"What?" I nodded, pulling up my sleeve to reveal a panther lily tattoo on my forearm.
"My mother was an elf. My father was a human. They fell in love and had me. Viren found out and had them killed, right under the king's nose. The sneak acts all loyal to the king when he's a coward, greedy for more power his grubby hands can grasp." I looked at the Moonshadow elf sitting next to me, his blue eyes twinkling under the sun.
"But I need to ask you something, Runaan." His eyes met mine.
"Yes?"
"Why haven't you killed me yet?"
"Honor. A life for a life." I raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"But that's not your honor system. You're already dead, aren't you?" Runaan hesitated and looked away for a moment.
"You're one of our own. Not fully, but a half breed. I... truly don't know what made a human fall in love with an elf but... if so, this changes everything. Your existence changes everything." I laughed bitterly and laid my legs flat on the ground.
"If my existence changes everything, why am I hated for being an elf, and a human? I don't belong anywhere." Runaan stood up and looked down at my figure.
"You're wrong. You're the only one that belongs in both worlds." I whipped my head upwards and widened my eyes in awe.
"Runaan-" He interrupted me with a hand, then smiled a bit.
"We have to hurry, yes?" I laughed and pushed myself up off the ground, picking up my bag and following him.
"To Xadia."
