a/n: We love a good Eliza and Alexander fight...
-
Alexander walked up the stairs, finding Eliza sitting on their bed, he was in his work clothes still, but she was in her night gown ready for bed. Alexander knocked on the door frame, her head looking up.
"Do you mind if I grab my nightclothes?" He asked peacefully, she nodded, pointing to the dresser. He walked into the room and took out his clothes, Eliza looked right at the window.
"You could've told me you know." She said, Alexander sighed, looking at the striped pajamas in his hands.
"I should have, it was the worst mistake of my life and I know you won't accept my apology now but maybe you'll accept it years from now." He said, talking quietly and under his own breath. Eliza furrowed her brow, standing up carefully and going to the door, closing it. Alexander cursed silently, turning back around, putting his night clothes on the table in front of him.
"If you think I'll be apologizing any time soon you have some nerve Alexander." She spat, Alexander sighed.
"What other words can I say to you? What do you want me to say?" He asked, she crossed her arms atop her bulging stomach.
"Tell me what happened." She said.
"You won't believe me, even if I tell the truth." He said, Eliza huffed.
"I'll be blessed if you even say the truth to me because lying to me certainly seemed like a good idea to keep me calm for five years. Five years? That's as old as your youngest son! Do you have any idea?" She asked, her voice was growing now.
Young Alex listened on from his and Philip's room. Philip wasn't fazed. Angelica looked up from her novel form across the hall, standing up and walking out into the hall, leaning silently upon the wall near their parent's room. James and John looked up, John starting to cry. James didn't want to bother Alex this time, going to his brother and rocking him back and forth whispering nonsense into his ear to calm him down. As the screams grew, the children all listened on in their own way. Even if they couldn't understand what happened, they knew it to an extent.
"So she seduced you? How do you expect me to believe that?!"
"I told you if I told you the truth that you wouldn't believe me."
"Oh well thank God for the clearly honest Alexander Hamilton! As if he were honest his whole life!"
"Time has passed."
"I burned the letters."
"I don't care what you did to distinguish your anger and heartbreak, don't you think this affects me as well?"
"I don't see you crying over me."
"What do you think I've been doing all week?"
"Trying to write something to get your name back, that's what."
"Well I've been crying over you, my clothes are al; tear tracked. Happy? At least I love you, that James didn't even love his wife."
"If you loved me you wouldn't have given into her."
"Since I love you I didn't tell you."
"That doesn't mean you should have done it Alexander!" She yelled, Alexander sighed.
"Isn't that what love is? Just a more emotional version of fear? Isn't it! You can't tel me it isn't because darling we are it."
"Don't call me darling, not anymore."
"Fine, but that doesn't make my feelings for you any different."
"I was pregnant, with your son!"
