"I'm Jamie," the boy announced once he finished his soup.
"I'm Brycen," he replied. "What were you doing in the middle of the sidewalk?"
"Huh? Oh, I was helping Santa and I think I fell out," Jamie replied.
"Wait, so when I heard Santa, I wasn't going insane? That was actually him?" Brycen demanded. Jamie nodded.
"Of course," Jamie responded. "Adults don't believe in Santa 'cause who he is really isn't known well to humans. And humans tend to fear the unknown, whether they realize it or not."
"But..." Brycen wanted to prove his point, but he couldn't. Arrogance was just stupid, and besides, Santa literally stacked things against him like presents under a Christmas tree. He sat in a chair, holding his head in his hands.
"You okay?" Jamie asked.
"Y..." his voice faded and he slammed his hands on the table, standing up.
"This is getting you really worked up over this," Jamie responded.
"It's not that! I yelled at my dad for believing in Santa and he died yesterday, and then you show up telling me Santa is actually real and everything I said was me just being a dick!" Brycen yelled, tears streaming down his face.
