letter thirteen

764 73 6

dear you,

you looked at me as if i was foreign.

as if you didn't recognize me.

but somehow that felt nice, it distracted me from the physical aching pain in my body.

mentally, the pain was indescribable, it was numbing.

i was numb.

you walked over, 'you look sickeningly thin and pale.'

i stood taller and straighter, 'i know.'

then i walked away.

away from myself, mostly.

but i think at some point
we just lose ourselves
and that's okay
as long as you come back.

i'm not coming back.
