Harper's POV

With the house coming along, Dalton didn't want to wait to get married. I had to take a test to finish high school then I was free. The test took three hours and Ember administered it to me. It was a final on all my classes.

I finished the test and handed it to her as she smiled at me. Whether I passed or failed I knew where my life was headed. I walked out of the classroom to find Dalton waiting for me. He took my hand and led me out of the school.

Most people would be celebrating graduating and going off to college but I was celebrating by having a family. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine being with Dalton Fuller.

We sat on the porch swing once we returned and I looked out into the distance. The wind was blowing and the grass moved slightly with it. The days were getting shorter, while the nights were getting longer.

Ember pulled up and got out. She walked up to the porch. I stood up, "congratulations Harper. You passed." I smiled as I gave Dalton a hug then gave Ember a hug.

"Thank you," I told her as she nodded. I turned to Dalton. He moved a strand of hair away from my face, "I'm proud of you."

I wrapped my arms around him as he hugged me. Ember walked by and patted his back as she went inside. Now we could focus on the wedding.

I was proud of Harper. To hear how happy she was and that she passed, made me unbelievably proud. I also wanted her to have a wedding and a proper honeymoon.

I enlisted help to get this done in time. Ma and my grandma's worked on the wedding. Pa helped with the honeymoon part while we worked together to finished the house. I wanted to come home to a home with my wife.

As everyone worked together to pull this off, we also had the holidays to deal with. First was Thanksgiving. We all went hunting and Harper made several trips to the bathroom. Our youngin was giving her hell. Being a couple months along, she was pretty sick.

Ma took care of her, reassuring her it was normal. Harper didn't think it was normal, whatsoever.

Once we caught our bucks, we made our way for home. As soon as we arrived, I carried Harper inside. She had fallen asleep. I carried her up to her room and placed her into the bed. I leaned over and gave her a kiss on the forehead as she slept.

One day, we would be in our own home, in our own bed together.

Thanksgiving arrived and I didn't feel like eating or being around food. I knew Dalton was worried as was I but his mom and grandmother's reassured us, this was normal. I didn't feel normal.

To help I was given saltine crackers and something light to drink. We also spoke with the doctor who assured us it was part of the pregnancy. In a few weeks it should pass. Great.

I got through Thanksgiving and as the wedding neared, I still spent more time in the bathroom than out of it. I wanted to help but I was told everything was under control. This was not how I expected to have a wedding.

I laid on the couch, sipping my drink when Dalton walked over and took a seat next to me, lifting my legs up and placing them on his lap.

"You look miserable darlin," he said with a concerned look.

"I feel miserable and I can't help with my wedding," I sighed.

He gave me a soothing look.

"Just a few more weeks and this should pass," he reassured me.

"Lord, I hope so. The last thing I want is to be tossing my cookies trying to say I do," I groaned as he softly chuckled. I couldn't help but chuckled myself.

At some point I won't feel like death. I hope.

Dalton's POV

A couple of weeks had passed and it was almost Christmas. Everything was about set for the wedding and Harper finally made it through her first trimester. She also felt better. The morning sickness had passed and she was able to enjoy at least one holiday. We wet set to marry on New Years Eve.

Today was pa and ma's wedding anniversary, so we celebrated. They had married on Christmas Eve. In the words of pa, "like father, like son." The next day we were celebrating Christmas.

Everyone gathered to eat, celebrate and visit. The one thing about our family is, we didn't need a lot stuff. Having each other was more important.

I found Harper in the kitchen and chuckled. She looked at me with her cheeks full like a chipmunk.

"I see you're feeling better," I said as I walked over and picked up a finger food.

"Now that I'm not running off to the bathroom all the time, I'm really hungry," she said after she swallowed the food in her mouth.

"No worries. At least I know you're eating," I said simply as I grabbed a pie. Grandma brought a few of them and I grabbed the apple pie.

I handed her a fork and I took one as we ate from the pie itself.

"Dalton? What did you mean by at least you know I'm eating," she asked me.

After chewing my food and swallowing, I said, "ma had a problem with food. When she was expecting me, it got pretty bad to the point they put her in the hospital. Pa was so scared that he was afraid he would lose both of us."

She looked me as she reached over and touched my hand, "Dalt, I know you're worried but I promise, I am doing everything to make sure I bring this little one into the world. Now that I'm not constantly running to the bathroom to toss my cookies," she reassured me as she giggled.

I couldn't help but chuckled.

We leaned over the counter and gave each other a kiss. It was sweet from the pie but just like Harper, my fiancé. I couldn't wait to make her my wife.
