Alec's P.O.V

Before I even looked at her I felt her presence, the smell of strawberries suffocating me. I placed my spoon back in one of the ice cream samples and turned around to face her. My gaze locked with her dark chocolate brown eyes as I felt a pang of pain in my chest. I shook my head a little, as if shaking off the pain. Pressing my lips in a thin line, my fists clenched without me even recognizing that I did.

"Hi?", I laughed humorlessly, a bitter tone lacing my voice. A flash of hurt graced her deceptive eyes, her cheeks tinting embarrassment.

"Can we talk please?", She mumbled softly, looking down at her shoes. As I was about to respond a slight ding of my phone caught my attention. I instantly roll my eyes as three nudes popped up in my messages.

Classic Gretchen

I turned my attention back to Clarissa who was looking more embarrassed than before.
For the fun of it I mumbled a soft okay. She took a seat in front of me, fiddling with her fingers.

"So?", I asked, rolling my eyes slightly. I tapped my fingers on the table impatiently.

"I—we—uh—what", She stuttered, sighing she placed her hands on the table grabbing one of my many Ice Cream samples and that's when I noticed the promise ring that I gave her, firmly rested on her finger. She noticed my unwavering gaze on the ring, her face turned red like a tomato, quickly placing her hands back under the table. My eyes watered, the memory of me giving it to her flashed before my eyes. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and opened them back. Her eyes flickered up to mine and she looked taken back by the cold and expressionless look in my eyes. Internally grinning at the fact that I mastered that look so that nobody can hurt me again, I sighed at this pathetic girl in front of me.

"Look, if you have nothing to say then shoo!", I waved my hand dismissively, going back to my Ice Cream.

"Fine, I just wanted you to know...", she started off softly but then took a deep breath, I waited patiently for her to speak, slightly eager as to what she has to say.

Oh who am I kidding, I was more than slightly eager.

"That I will always love you", She finally spoke softly, I gripped onto my spoon so tightly, the familiar sensation of pain spotting through my heart.

How could she be so cruel? Why does she have to lie to me AGAIN?

"I applaud your skill, let me know when you get accepted into the acting industry", I softly mumbled, with that said I got up from the seat and shoved my hands in my jeans, stepping out of the Parlor, not even sparing it another glance.

Clarissa's P.O.V

He said so softly that I could've barely heard what he had said but I did and my heart started to hurt again. I watched him walk away from me, my feet glued to the floor, every fiber in my body froze, a tear rolled down my cheek, followed by another, then another, until I was full blown crying my eyes out in the Parlor.
Everyone turned to look at me so I hurried out of the place and hailed a cab with my tear stricken face out on full display. The cab ride was silent, only the mere sound of the busy street and the distant voices of Manhattan citizens doing whatever.

I let out a sigh of relief when I reached my home. "Mom, Zack, I'm home!", I alerted them slightly smiling about the thought of my only family.

"Honey! I made home baked cookies!", My mom came bouncing on her feet with a broad smile on her face. Her hair looking disheveled, white flour sprinkled on various spots on her face, her smile was so contagious that it made me smile too.

"Mom! I'm so happy that you haven't burned down the kitchen!", I exclaimed happily earning me a hard glare from her. The sad truth is, I can bake better than her.

"I warned her Clarissa but she wouldn't listen", Zack embraced me in a hug, a playful smirk on his lips as he threw our mom an amused look.

"You guys suck", she huffed, pouting like a baby but then her expression changed, her eyes twinkled in sheer happiness.

"We're going next door for dinner!", She squealed like it was the most exciting news whilst I was standing here with a mortified expression on my face.

"Mom, you do know that ding- Alec is residing next door right?", I asked with a blank expression but a turmoil of emotions where battling inside of me.

"I know honey, isn't it a good opportunity to make up?", She smiled softly, clearing not taking a hint that I really do not want to be there.

"Great now, go change into a nice dress Clarissa!", She shooed my away. With a disheartened sigh I stomped up the stairs to my room.

It's going to be a long night.
