Lucy felt lucky. So she threw her husband's dice into his open coffin.

When the vampire returned from his work party—drunk on the blood of intoxicated interns, as usual—she gestured to his dice. "I rolled 'em."

He ran to the coffin's edge. "Lucy, no," he drawled. "Shit. Oh shit. What've you done!?"

"Don't interrobang me," she said. "It was about time I decided our fate."

"You rolled a two," he said. "You rolled snake eyes for the 21st century."

"Because I'm over this."

"Over what, exactly?"

She drew a circle in the air with her long-nailed finger.
