"Mikey, they're fighting again, I'm afraid to leave, he might hurt me," I say to my older brother as I hide in the bathroom, from our parents.

"Rose, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry that I left you in that shit hole. You're coming to stay with me and the lads in California, in three days. Don't worry, we'll see each other soon. I promise!"

"I think he just hit Mom again. Okay, I have to go, see you soon big brother" And with that, I ended the call and hurriedly rush to my room and lock the door. I pack all the essentials. My shirts, shorts, pants, bras, panties, deodorant, and Mr. Cuddles, my stuffed bear that Mikey gave to me when I was five.

I packed my carry-on full of pads and tampons I and painkillers, due to it being that time of the month when mother nature is a fucking bitch and makes me bleed for a week. I also pack my savings, my extra phone charger, gum, and my earbuds.

Once I was finished I checked the time. It was way past dinner time, and I was starving! I open my door and quietly run downstairs, I grab an apple and water, and quietly go back upstairs and lock my door.

The next two days went by too slowly for my liking. I am currently laying down on my bed and was on my phone scrolling through my Instagram feed when I found my brother's recent post. It was him in scrubs with one of his friends both doing a thumbs up.

"Nothing can beat the feeling of when you save a life! With @LukeHemmings"

Yeah, my brother and his friends are doctors, it makes me uneasy since I have always had this unnatural fear of doctors, but it helps that Mikey is my brother and I trust him with my life. I double-tap the picture and went to text him.

"I can't wait to see you, Mikey!!"

"I can't wait for it either Princess, but go to sleep you need all the energy you can get, it's a long plane ride."

"yeah okay adios Hermano" I send that and turn off my phone, to get ready for bed and go to sleep.

I wake up to my alarm and I get up right away, I also bring down my suite cases. I find my mom unconscious on the floor with beer cans all around her, and my father passed out on the couch with a beer and several empty bottles of vodka and some weed still burning in the ashtray. I gag in disgust, and quickly wrote a note to them, for when they woke up, that they didn't have to bother to take me to the airport, even though they cannot legally drive while still under the influence. I stuck it in my mom's loose hand and order a Uber from my phone.

Once at the airport I got through the security and sat down in front of Starbucks just going on my phone and texting Mikey that I was about to board the plane, starting a sixteen-hour plane ride to California.

"Flight 255, you may board now, Flight 255, you may board now," The lady on the intercom says. I grab my carry-on and got in line with my section I hand in my ticket and got onto the plane. I was seated on the outside chair and two men were seated next to me. The flight attendants went through the safety procedures and helped everyone get situated. I buckled up, turned on my phone, and texted Mikey I was on my way. He had asked me to update him every time something happened. Then it was time to put it on airplane mode.

The guys next to me turned out to be a couple and were very friendly. It turns out that they were just about to adopt a little kid, and they were coming home from a business trip. After about three hours, I fell asleep for about fifteen minutes and it went on and off until we landed. And to say the least, I was exhausted.

I walk to the huge lobby, after grabbing my suitcases and looking for Michael. As soon as I saw the hair I knew that it was him. I grabbed my luggage and ran to him despite the growing drowsiness that wanted to overcome me, but I pushed on and ran into my brother's arms.
