Iqra shook Aaina's shoulder for what felt like the hundredth time. "Seriously, are you trying to sleep till noon? Get up!"
Aaina groaned, stuffing her face into the pillow. "Leave me alone, you psycho. It's too early."
"It's 9 a.m.! Too early for what, burning off that mountain of chips you inhaled last night?" Iqra yanked the blanket away and threw it to the floor.
"Why do you care what I do? I'll work out later!" Aaina snapped, attempting to curl back into the mattress, only for Iqra to swat her leg.
"Later? Later isn't going to save you when you can't fit into your jeans anymore!"
"Shut up!," Aaina shot back, glaring at her sister.
"I'm trying to help you before you end up on one of those TV shows where they have to cut the door open just to get you out of the house."
Aaina sat up slowly, eyes narrowing. "Ek din tumhare bhi bure din aayenge," she grumbled. ("One day it will be your bad day.")
"Sure, maybe. But today's your day. Don't act like you didn't beg me to wake you up when you realised the scale was going up faster than your grades."
"Shut up, Iqra!"
"Make me!" Iqra shoved her back.
That was enough to set Aaina off. She lunged at Iqra.
"Oh, you wanna go? Fine!" Iqra snarled, grabbing Aaina's wrist and twisting it. "Let's see who wins!"
"You're gonna regret this!" Aaina screamed.
"Not if I bury you first!" Iqra shot back.
Suddenly, the door flew open, and their Sila, stood there. "What in the world is happening here?! It sounds like a zoo!"
"Amma, she started it!" Iqra pointed at Aaina, while Aaina shouted, "She was being a cow!"
Sila slapped her forehead dramatically. "Enough! Both of you, shut up! The whole neighborhood must have come out to watch your fighting! Do you have no shame, no decency?"
"Main koi din sukoon ka saans nahi le sakti! Pata nahi kis paap ki saza hai yeh! Kabhi tum dono ki ladai, kabhi aur koi masla! Kya maine yeh din dekhne ke liye tumhe paida kiya tha?!" ("I can't have a single day of peace! I don't know what sin I'm being punished for! If it's not you two fighting, it's something else! Did I give birth to you just to see days like this?!")
