Listen to me
Close your eyes
And imagine.

A girl,
The rain of her struggles has frozen into an armor
Shielding her body from the insults and the drama
Catcalls and charisma, and her soul fizzles and pops
Ready to take on the world.

Imagine the earth
As a vast universe
And an astronaut, who sees
More than the rest
Beyond the twinkling stars to raging balls of fire
Beyond the oceans to floods that will destroy us
Beyond obsession to murder and riots
Beyond slavery to freedom

Imagine a tree
Where a baby bird is stumbling, falling, trying
To take flight.
The wind is strong,
And a bite of frost in the dead of night
Makes it hard to do things right
Time is long
But the bird with broken wings, stumbles, falls and dies.

Imagine a rainbow
Bright in the sky
And they shield their eyes
Unable to accept
the nature of our selves
And we'll endeavour to delve
Beyond.

Imagine a woman
Unwilling to give up.
Relentless, she will not stop
And every little drop
Of malice is just adrenalin
Spurring her on, and the rushing
All through her body
And she will not miss her shot.

When we shoot for the moon
When we lose, but never doomed
Or maybe doomed to a fate
A legacy we can't forsake
A single shot reverberates
In the silence, and the ache
Echoes. drowning in your mistake
You did not see the stakes
When you took that single shot
When she fell upon the spot
What was the reason, certainly not
What you expected to feel
Something after all
Oh, your logic was flawed
And time seems to stall
When you look beyond
The reason disappears
And you're left with only fear
And guilt, of falling for a lie
That surrounded you, enveloped, packaged
A practical marriage of
Bluffs and intentions
Hidden conditions
And you couldn't see
Like an astronaut.
Who would have thought
That we could think like this.

Imagine
That she never collapsed
That she never bled
That you never fled
That the world could be different

Imagine
If the world could be different.
