~Laura's P.O.V.~
I enter the house, encountering Vanessa. She had her hands on her waist with her right eyebrow high up. She was tapping her foot, shaking her head, acting as if she was my mother.
I roll my eyes "Doesn't look good on you Vanessa. Now where's mom and dad?"
Her strict face changed into a face about to laugh or vomit. I was puzzled at the current situation.
"What's wrong with you Vanessa? Are about to puke or—"
She laughed so hard "Oh my Laura I never thought you'd fall for that!" she continued laughing hysterically towards the kitchen. She opened the microwave and got a bowl of I guess mac and cheese.
"Fall for what?" I asked her
"That!" she says
"What?"
She pauses, catching her breath "Whew! Mom and dad reminded us that they were going to be home at 10, never early than that. And when I told you they were here, you panicked like a chicken!" she laughed again
I looked at her weirdly "Seriously? That's it?"
"Mhm." She nodded
I shook my head "Vanessa Nicole Marano you are so shallow."
"Laura Marie Marano you are so gullible." She sticks her tongue out, taking two smaller bowls from the cupboard. I roll my eyes, proceeding to the fridge getting a pitcher of orange juice.
She sets the bowls and the spoons she got on the table and I pour orange juice on the glasses. She continues to stick her tongue out while I just glare at her. My sister, a shallow weirdo.
"Who were you with? I heard a girl say goodbye. New friend?" Vanessa asks
"Oh yeah. There's this kid who needed tutoring on probability. He and his sister dropped me off." I answer, eating a mouthful of mac and cheese
"Wow. My sister' famous already! I can't believe that 7th Grader would ask you to tutor her... him... whatever."
"Nah I'm not famous the guy's my batchmate."
Vanessa's eyes widen "What?"
I shrug "He doesn't get it. I was just too kind that's why I offered help."
Vanessa wasn't satisfied of my answer so she rose her eyebrow.
"Okay he asked me." I admitted
"No, what I meant was, you offered or accepted tutoring this guy just because he's low in math?"
"Yes." I nod
Vanessa frowns "Laura, don't tell me you're playing matchmaker again."
I tried to lie, but it will just be perceptible. I sigh "Yes, Laura the matchmaker is back."
Vanessa was about to speak but I cut her off "Are you mad or something?"
"No it's not that it's... who are you matching the guy with first?"
"Caroline." I answer
"Oh, no wonder she left thirty recorded messages of 'Where's Laura?'." Vanessa chuckles "Okay so is it Caroline's choice or the guy? And, who is the guy?"
"It was Caroline's choice and the guy is Ross Lynch."
"Oh, brother of Rydel Lynch?" she asks
"Yeah. How do you know?"
"Every spirit week, the freshmen and the sophomores join and so do the juniors and seniors, right? I was grouped with her when I was a senior and Rydel was a Junior. You were a freshman back then, right?" Vanessa explains.
"So what do you mean by ... your umm theory on why I shouldn't play matchmaker?" I return to the topic.
"Oh yeah. It's not that I'm telling you to not match Ross and Caroline. But now that you're a grown lady, the more time you hang out with Ross to know him for Caroline, there's a tendency of you falling in love." Vanessa warns
I scoff "That'll never happen."
"You can never tell..."
