"Wait, are you serious?" You cried, eyes widened when your dad suddenly announced that he had to leave for one of your relative's place at night along with your mom. "You can't just leave one day before Christmas Eve. I thought we would decorate the tree together and get cake this time." You added in disappointment.
"I'm so sorry [Y/N], but your aunt is sick and its more important to visit her and take care of her." Your dad said in response.
"And we aren't even Christian. We were only celebrating it because you said you wanted to." Your mom pointed out.
When you sank into the couch in disappointment, your dad felt guilty. "How about you call a couple of friends over and celebrate it with them? I have left some money on your desk so you can use it later." He said in hopes to make up for the broken promise.
You only shrugged an 'okay' and left. The problem was that the few friends you had were either out of the city for vacation or celebrating Christmas with their families. Maybe you would just buy food with that money and save up the rest to buy a video game later.
The next day, the house was really empty and since you had spent almost the whole day on the couch, you decided to go out for a bit. As you walked outside the supermarket, you noticed an old man selling earrings, bracelets and other accessories of the sort on the street.
"Would you like to try this on?" The man asked when he noticed you eyeing one ring in particular. You nodded and slid it on your finger.
"I would like to buy this one." You immediately decided, reaching for the money in your wallet. The man put the ring in a paper bag and handed it to you along with a cute little card. When you looked at him with questioning eyes, his lips curved up into a smile.
"That card is free. Write down whatever gift you want and hang it on the Christmas tree. Santa Claus will definitely deliver your gift on Christmas morning then." He instructed. You slipped the card in your pocket and started walking away when suddenly, he added. "Make sure you don't miss out on this precious opportunity." You looked at him, wondering why he said that. At first you thought the man was joking, but his expression showed he was absolutely serious.
You brushed it off and went back home, assuming that the man was only playing with you. Kicking off your shoes to one corner of the living room, you unpacked the chips, chocolate bars, drinks and other snacks you just bought from the supermarket. You ate some of them and stored the rest for later. Suddenly, your phone buzzed a notification.

You smiled at the notification. real_pcy was your classmate Chanyeol's Intagram user name and it had been a month since you realized you had a crush on him. You tapped on his Instagram story which was a short video of him playing with his pet.
"Why is he so cute?" You mumbled to yourself, watching the video over and over again, admiring his chocolate-like deep voice and silky hair that he ran his fingers through as he laughed while playing with his pet. Tobeni or something, was the dog's name. You never really cared about dogs. To you they weren't anything special, just okay creatures that begged for attention and sometimes became annoying when they barked at you. It was only recently that you had started feeding the street dogs around your school, petting them, playing with them and making sure Chanyeol noticed when you did all of that.
You tapped on his account and scrolled through his pictures.
