Introduction

Hi! My name is Aria Marie Smith. I am an Independent, but somewhat leaning towards the Republican side. I wanted to write this book to talk about my own personal political views and some other issues going on in the world because I have never seen a book from an Independent's point of view. I have seen a lot of Republican books or Democrat books where either side will strongly argue their case and their beliefs, but I don't ever hear from Independents. I wanted other Independents out there to know that there are other Independents, because I didn't know that for a while. For a while, I thought you had to be Republican or Democrat. I thought there was no other choice. Now, I've learned that there are other choices and I'm so much happier about it.

If you're reading this book and you don't know what an Independent is, that's okay! Let me help a little bit. An Independent is basically the "middle man" between Republican and Democrat. No, not a Libertarian. An Independent does not affiliate themselves with a specific political party, because their views don't line up closely with any other political party. Now, Independents are not a political party, because we don't have a party platform (a platform is a set of beliefs). Being an Independent is what I like to refer to as a political affiliation rather than being in a political party.
