~The Toughest Offer

•Chris Brady•
Days after I found Thora alive at the hospital, Natalie had been coming there frequently when I told her about Thora. I wanted to surprise Randy and Cheryl so I didn't let them know I found her. Natalie had to take care of work so I have been going to Thora's ward and she was still unconscious.

I was admitted to the hospital too so it wasn't a problem to go there like ten times a day. It was time for me to be checked by the doctors so I got up to leave her ward and someone opened the door. A guy in the twenties or less walked in and I looked at him. We stood there having a starring contest. He looked like someone I know. He looked familiar.

"Who are you?" We asked in unison. "I'm Chris."

"Nathaniel. Are you her family?" Nathaniel, Natalie? It's weird.

"Something like that. I guess you're the one who brought her here."

"Yeah. Has she woken up?"

"No. Thank you so much for bringing her to the hospital. Did you see who did this to her?"

"No. She was lying on the street and was already unconscious when I saw her. I wanted to make a report but I didn't know her name so I brought her here."

"Okay. I'm going to find out and thanks again."

"You're welcome. Are you also a patient here?"

"Got into a shitty accident." I laughed.

"Sorry for that. I'll check up on her and leave. I guess, this will be the last time I come here."

"Let me get your number." We exchanged contacts and I left him at the ward.

Natalie was back from work. I saw her pressing her legs in the ward. I walked in and smiled at her. "How are you feeling?" she asked.

"I'll be okay soon. It still hurts." Natalie leaned in the chair and sighed. She sat up when she saw slow movements on the bed. She got up and walked closer to the bed. "Hey Chris. I think we need to call the doctor. She is moving." she beamed. "Thora, can you hear me?" she asked. "Oh my God. Thora you opened your eyes." I looked at Thora open her eyes slowly and smiled.
We waited outside when the doctors came in and I couldn't stop smiling.

I went back to the ward when the doctor left with Natalie to his office. Thora took her head up to look at me when I entered. "Hey." I said and she sat up on the bed.

"Can I touch you?" she asked. "Yeah." she touched my face and ran her hand on my palm. She made me feel nervous. She cried silently and I wiped her tears off.

"Don't do that. You're going to get sick." I hugged her on the bed and she sobbed on my arms. I wanted to ask her what happened to her and why Nathaniel found her on the streets unconscious. I didn't want to worsen her sobs and she just woke up too. She shrugged from me and wiped her tears.

"I want to rest. Can you go out?" she sounded rude and she wasn't looking at me anymore.

"Should I call the doctor?"

"I said I want to rest!" she yelled and I looked at her surprisingly.

"Thora." I held her hand and she shrugged. I got up from the bed and sighed. "I'll come back when you're okay."

"Don't come back please." she lied down on the bed and faced the wall. She wiped off tears and I left the ward. She must be stressed out. Why is she mad at me? What did I do again?

Thora asked to be discharged as soon as possible when Natalie told her I was a patient there too. She spent few more days at the hospital and she made it hard for me to see her. She frowns at me and I just go back to my ward. It was time for her to be discharged and Natalie came back to the hospital when she got clothes from the house for Thora to be discharged into. Natalie saw me standing outside the ward and I looked up when she called me. "Why are you outside? Let's go in." she said.
