Your silence

When you were silent,
it could be because of anything.
You once took an ode of silence.
Because you were grieving.
You didn't speak for a month.
You were silent for weeks because you were
angry. Angry at the world for making you, you.
You were once silent for a long time,
because you were worried. Worried about me.
And once, you were silent,
just because you could.
You did it because you felt like it.
Not that it ever mattered,
we never needed words.
We never needed to talk.
We would just sit there, doing our thing.
We could communicate with looks, or without. You were never a person of many words.
Neither was I.
And I want to be silent forever,
but you're not here to be silent with me,
so what's the point?
Instead, I am telling, speaking, writing.
Because it doesn't matter how many people see this.
I just want to tell anyone who wants to listen.
About you.
I don't want to forget.
So for once, is it okay if we're not silent?
