Chapter 20

Blake's POV
I'm standing outside of her house terrified as hell. Kyle left a while ago to take his group to a different location. Currently the twins are back from their trip to a safe house. We decided it's better for us to put the pack in safe houses early just so we have more time to prepare for tomorrow night. Ari is inside this house all alone and my nerves are kicking in. Last time we had alone time i took back my rejection and this is going to be the first time we get to spend some alone time since then.
Letting out a huge sigh to try to get my nerves out, i knock on the door. A few seconds pass before she opens the door and gives me a small smile. I can tell she's nervous as well. Stepping aside she makes a hand gesture for me to walk in.
How am i supposed to great her? Should i hug her, shake her hand, give her a high five?
I settle with a smile and a quick hey. She smiles back and the air feels like you can cut it with a butter knife. It's so awkward. Clearing my throat she looks up as if she remembered something. She starts to walk away but I'm not sure if i should follow her. She turns to see me and realizes that I'm not following her. She heads back where i am and grabs my hand. Leading me to the kitchen i see some baskets with little bottles and a note on each basket. Realizing that these are the potions i get close to see them.
Noticing each basket is colored coded i pick up a little note from in front of the basket that have the green bottles. i read it and it says,
This is a protection potion, DRINK THIS! do not rub on yourself! It won't work. usually it helps wolfs with silver. The silver will still affect them but not as much. It works miracles with bites and cuts. If someone were to get a bite it'll heal instantly, same with a knife cut. With a bullet it'll heal only if the bullet is out of the body. This potion will last for two days or so.
Setting that note down i go to the next basket and read what those are. These are in little red containers.
These are a smell masking potion. DO NOT EAT! it's not poisonous but it won't work and i don't think anyone would want to digest a liquid that has animal poop in them. Rub all over yourself as best as you can. The more you rub the longer it'll last. The name suits what it does. It masks your smell to anything out there. A bottle should last a day.
Finally i go and see the yellow bottles, i see there are more of these than both colors combined.
These are extra special and if they get in the wrong hands it could get bad. YOU HAVE TO DIGEST THESE, drinking them is how you get the powers. They heighten senses, smell is stronger and will help you and your wolf look out for your enemy. You will be able to run faster, punch harder, and have faster reflexes. What makes it special though, is when someone is hurt and they are almost in their last breath they take a sip of this and they will magically heal. If the wolf is infected with silver they will get immune of the silver for a while until the silver is out of the system.
Being really impressed at how many potions Ari made in the short time of a night i turn to look at her. But she's not paying attention to me she's making what looks like the last of the yellow bottles. It looks like she has a whole pan of it on the stove. I was so intrigued to see her do what she was doing that i didn't notice her turn off the fire from the stove and look at me.
"Uh um y-you know you'll have to tell me one day how you learned how to make these. And tell me all about you i have a feeling you have a lot of secrets that i want to know" well that was embarrassing my voice cracked when i first started to talk to her and i stuttered. It doesn't help that i can feel that she's nervous too, with her being nervous and me being nervous that triples our anxiety. Which is bad for her so I'm trying to calm down, but I'm scared that I'll say the wrong thing and she'll be mad.
"So are you ready? We're heading out 3 hours from here to one of my secret houses" three hours is good, i won't be too far away and it's technically a three hour drive but in wolf form we can make it back here in about an hour or less depending how fast we run.
She nods her head and grabs some baskets while i grab the others. Loading up the car with her stuff and my stuff i sneak a few potions into my bag and into hers. I do that just in case i have to go back and also because I'm curious to see how they work.
"I have to drop these off with one of the twins i asked them if they can drop them off to the other pack for me seeing that we are already late and i also figured you wanted to say bye to both of them just in case-because Uh the Uh doctor called and said that um if you aren't a little better that we should probably stay a little while longer" she gives me a questioning look and i just give her a smile back.
I really can't keep anything from her can i. As we head to where the twins are i see her starting to notice that there is no one in sight. Freaking out i say another lie.
"It's empty because it's around the time of the year we start practicing our emergency situation. So if there was a tornado or attack or something we'll all be hiding in the safe houses on sight not the other secret safe houses that we have that are for big emergencies. We started doing that maybe a year or so after you left..... um there was a big storm that hit us and we were not close to being safe some houses got hit by trees. So we started this, i mean better safe than sorry" it's not like i was fully lying we did have a big storm that hit and we do actually do the emergency precautions but that's not why we're all inside. She gives me a nod and yawns.
"We're almost by where the twins are, you can take a nap after we say goodbye" she smiles and turns to look out the window. It's a comfortable silence until we reach the area where the twins are. Both of them run out to the car and look at me with panicked faces. That got me worried until Nick spoke up.
"Hey what are you guys doing here we thought you two left already because we're trying to get things ready for the thing and some people are in there" i mentally facepalmed can he be anymore inconspicuous? Note my sarcasm. Ari didn't seem to noticed she seemed too tired. She's been up since 3 am making those potions. Sometimes that girl is so weird. When i went to go tell her that she needs sleep -Yes i slept over their house just because i didn't want to leave her alone, i slept on the couch- all she wrote was her anxiety was going through the roof and she thought something was gonna happen so it's better to work on these things than twist and turn all night in bed.
"Well I thought it was a good idea for Ari to say bye considering we are leaving and she isn't going to see you two for a few days maybe longer if she doesn't feel better" i hint at him. His face turned into a sad one when he realized what is actually happening and we don't know what we're up against. So there is a possibility that they won't make it out.
"Yeah, you're right. Let me call Alex "
He runs inside and both twins come back out, with Kyle. Nick is shielding something from us in his hands, he has it behind him. Ari walks out of the house and gives Alex a big hug and then turns to Kyle-surprising us all- and also giving him a hug. When she turns to Alex he stops her from giving her a hug.
"Hold up i wanna give you something before you hug me. We were in your old room and i saw this Kyle said you didn't take anything with you and that your mom and dad gave you this and i thought it'll help you with your anxiety and everything" 
Old room? Oh shit we're at Kyles house, Ari's old home, Ari's old childhood home. Where everything happened. No wonder Ari was so quiet on the way here, well she's always quiet but she was more quiet.. whatever you know what i mean. Ari saw the tiny teddy bear in his hand and froze. She looked like she wanted to run away, and cry. She gave him a hug but didn't accept the teddy bear. Alex was really confused but handed me the bear. This bear doesn't bring good memories i can feel it. With her final goodbyes she gets into the car and i give the guys a side bro hug. Throwing the teddy bear in the backseat we head off.
Why does it feel like we were saying our final goodbyes?
She typed that on her phone and i read it, shrugging at her i laughed it off.
