Author's Foreword

A Thief's Way is the first short-story related to my epic fantasy series, Tales of the Amulet. It coincides with the events of A Prince's Errand features the notorious thieves, Tilthan, Nath, and Nemral.  In the previously published editions of Tales of the Amulet, Tilthan has been a popular character.  Some readers have compared him to Nathan Filion, and others Silk from David Edding's The Belgariad and The Malloreon.  When writing  A Prince's Errand I tinkered with the plot of this story several times and eventually decided upon this story. 

At first it was going to be a heist story in a setting within the main story line of A Prince's Errand.  But it didn't work.  Then I drafted it as an assassin tale with a twist, but then that didn't fit with what I was planning for the next novel in Tales of the Amulet.  Both those ideas were hard to make fit into the existing story and the draft of The Dark Necromancer, book two of Tales of the Amulet.  So I decided to revisit the heist idea but in a different place.  I finally decided upon a place we see in an interlude chapter from A Prince's Errand, specifically "Greater Kalda II - Ercanin, the Chandler".  You can go and read that chapter for background on this short-story.  You'll get to meet one of the antagonists.  Click the "External Link" below to jump to that chapter.

This is the sixth short-story I've written.

This is my third story I've posted to Wattpad. After the success I had with the 2018 Watty Awards I decided to put more of my work here for all my followers and readers.

A Thief's Way will probably run around 20,000 words, with about 11 parts.  Most of my other short-stories are about that length.

I'll probably post the first update sometime in January 2019, depending on how much work I get in over the holidays.  Who knows, I might start uploading sooner.

This is currently a "work in progress", and is not the final edition that will be published. This version of A Thief's Way is a "raw" edition, it doesn't include any changes made by my editor. There probably won't be many changes to the story, but there will be a lot of polishing to the grammar, sentence structure, etc.I'll eventually be posting chapters as I finish them.
