Prologue
------------

The white snow crunched beneath my feet as I walked up to the blue door that was the entrance to my house.

"I'm home!" I called out as I stepped through the door and wiped my feet on the door mat.

"Did you have a nice time, honey?" my mum called down from upstairs.

I had just been to visit my friend, Madge's house. She bought a pet goldfish and wanted my help in naming it, I have no idea why, we're both 17 but for some reason it brought me joy to come up with silly names for a fish. In the end, we decided on Hector, we both came up with two names, Henry and Victor, then combined them and came up with that.

"Yeah, it was suprisingly fun!" I called back.

"Dinner's ready," dad teased from the kitchen.

I smell pizza. Delicous.

After eating dinner, dad went out with his friends because his friend, I call him Uncle Boggs, is getting married next week and his stag do is tonight, which means that me and mum are going to have a pamper night.

"Time for face masks!" mum said excitedly as she pulled two packs out from a bag and she started reading the instructions.

"Eh, who needs instructions?" she laughed.

"Well, I do, I don't really plan on dying from not using a face mask correctly," I said, joking.

"Well write it down on your bucketlist because tonight we're taking the risk." mum said sarcastically as she peeled open the top of the pack and started pouring the purple liquid that was in the pack into her hand.

"Close your eyes." she said as she started to smother the liquid onto my face. It was cold and I already felt my face start to stiffen, my face started to become numb.

"My face is numb." I slurred as I slowly opened my eyes when I'd discovered she was finished.

"Yeah, it's supposed to be." she said reassuringly. "now my turn!"

I took the pack from her hand and repeated the process on her.

After about 30 minutes of relaxing (well, we watched the first 20 minutes of twilight: breaking dawn part 2) we decided it was time to take the face masks off. Mum took hers off first. The purple fluid escaped through the plug hole revealing mum's face. It sparkled under the light and felt really smooth. after I washed mine off, mine did too. For a while we pretended we was vampires from twilight.

"Bella, you're not good for me." mum said dramatically in the most manliest voice she could.

"I trust you." I replied in a soppy voice.

We both burst out laughing. Don't get me wrong, twilight's one of my favourite series to read and watch, me and my mum are huge fans.

I turned on the TV to see that mean girls was just about to begin, this was my favourite film.

"Mum! Mean girls! TV! now!" I called out to the kitchen where she was putting pop corn into a bowl.

I was sat in the living room, it had black walls with a grey carpet and had pictures of the family on the walls. In the middle of the room sat the couch made for 3 people (because that's how many people live in our house, me, my mum and my dad.) About 3 metres away from the couch, mounted on the wall was our fifty inch TV, it was massive.

Mum walked into the room and placed the popcorn on the space on the sofa between us.

Me and mum were so into the film that we almost didnt hear the phone ring half way through.
