The Things We Lost In The Fire (Everlark Fanfic)

Prom

I sit and wait in anticipation for Peeta to knock on the door.

I feels like forever until I hear a knock, but I know it's only been five minutes.

Cato had already picked up Clove.

I get up and walk to the door and answer it. Marvel stands there with a flower in his hand.

"Glimmer it's for you!" I shout.

Glimmer gets up and rushes to the door.

"Hey." She says before walking out the door and closing it behind her.

I look at the clock. 7:43.

Peeta's POV

"I'm nervous." I say to Finnick.

"Don't be." He says.

I put some hair wax in my hair and gently pull my fingers through my hair.

I'm wearing a dark blue suit with a tie that has holographic flames on it. I thought it looked cool in the shop but now I'm afraid that it will clash with Katniss' dress. I also bought a belt that goes with it.

"I guess." I say, "I just I don't actually know why I'm nervous." I look at my watch. 7:45.

Finnick finishes doing his hair. He wears a green suit. His explanation for that is that it's the colour of Annie's eyes and it's his favourite colour.

I guess you can't argue against that.

"I'm gonna go pick up Katniss." I say.

Finnick nods and I walk out the room.

Katniss' POV

I hear a loud knock at the door.

This time Annie gets the door.

"Katniss! It's for you!" She shouts.

All of a sudden I get butterflies in my stomach.

I get up and walk to the door.

"Hey." I mumble.

I look up.

Peeta looks absolutely gorgeous. Oh, and his tie and belt matches my dress... How did he know?

"You look stunning." Peeta says.

I smile and take his hand.

"Good luck." Annie and Johanna whisper to me.

Johanna got asked to go to prom by a boy in our trig class, Thresh. She said she's liked him for quite a while now so it'll be interesting to see if it works out.

Gale has decided to ask Madge to our prom, because Madge's prom is on the same night and he asked the principle and he said it's okay.

"You look amazing, Peeta." I say.

He laughs.

"So do you. You look like you're on fire! I bought my tie and belt because I thought it looked really cool, I didn't know we'd match." He says.

We walk out into the parking lot and waiting for us is a smoky black limo.

"Peeta... This is amazing." I say.

"You only get one prom." He says as he smiles and pulls me into a hug.

As I get into the limo I see Thresh pull up in a black Cadillac. Johanna will LOVE that. She has an obsession with them sorts of cars.

And a green limo pulls into the parking lot. That must be for Finn and Annie.

Inside the limo is amazing, it has a tv in it, drinks and snacks and a huge sofa.
