Musutafu, Japan, home to the prestigious U.A. academy, where they train young individuals to become heroes. Yes everyone who had a unique power, or more commonly known as quirks, wanted to become a hero. It was everyone's dream.
Everyone except one.
Said person was Y/N L/N. He was currently walking down the street wearing a black hoodie and a pair of regular black jeans. A hood rested upon his head that concealed his face from anyone trying to peak at him. Y/N used to look up to heroes. They risked their lives to save the people around, knowing full well anything could go wrong at any moment. Now, Y/N simply despised them. Y/N had a problem with heroes and their general way of thinking. He didn't like the thought of all the rules that they have to follow. Sure they could capture and contain the villain, but what good would that do if they just escape in a few months and they have to do it again? That's why Y/N decided he didn't want to be a hero, he'll dish out his own justice.
People frown upon what he does. 'Vigilante' is the term they use. He wasn't a proper hero, he was just some guy going around at night stopping any kind of crime he saw. He did what no other hero could do. Of course that got him into a few run ins with pro heroes, luckily for him he was able to always escape them. Given his quirk, he could get out of any kind of situation at any given moment. Of course there was always the backlash of over using it.
Y/N was seen going inside a grocery store when he accidentally bumped into someone that was coming out. When he made contact with them, Y/N felt like he was hovering, weightless. He looked around and noticed that he was actually floating above the ground. As soon as he noticed, he heard a person say 'release' and found himself back on solid ground. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to activate my quirk on you, it's just that I ran into you and accidentally touched you, and I'm really sorry about this!" The person he ran into said, bowing their head in rabid motions, making her head seem to blur. He found quite funny, but was worry that her head was going to pop off. As Y/N was able to get to his feet, he dusted himself off before addressing the panicking girl.
"It's fine. I wasn't paying attention either." He says, rubbing the back of his neck. The boy looked over the girl, taking in her appearance. Round pink cheeks, brown hair, and brown eyes. Probably close to his age. He thought she looked a little cute, but dismissed the thought from his mind right away. He cleared his throat to get her attention, asking if she could move so he can get inside. She blushed in embarrassment, and moved herself away from the door to allow him inside. Thanking her, Y/N resumed what he was doing, while the girl left to do her own business. He made sure he got everything he needed, before making his way to the cashier. As he made his way to pay for his items, he heard a lot of commotion coming from the front of the store. Suddenly, the sound of glass breaking and people yelling filled the air.
Y/N ran straight to the front where he saw what appeared to be a slime villain escaping the scene. He looked around and noticed that no heroes were around to stop him. 'Typical. No signs of any heroes.' He thought to himself, looking at the panicked faces of the people around him. Not everyone was given the chance to become pro heroes. Although most people were born with quirks, some of them having very useful powers that can make them heroes. There was the slight chance of people not being born with quirks. They were just... ordinary. Normal. No chance of becoming a hero. Y/N thought he was quirkless, growing up he never showed any signs of developing a quirk. Though that all changed one day.
Looking at the escaping sludge monster, Y/N already found himself chasing after the robber. He heard the people behind him yell in glee and excitement, though he didn't have the time to turn around and find out why those scared screams turned into ones of excitement. He paid them no attention, focusing on catching up to the escaping villain. He saw him approach a darken tunnel, under a small bridge. Y/N saw the slime beginning to attack a defenseless girl, most likely to steal her body. Taking this opportunity, he threw a nearby rock at him, catching the attention of the villain. "Well I guess your in luck, kid. I just found someone more interesting than you." With that, he dropped the green haired child to the floor, who was slipping in and out of consciousness. He charged at Y/N, who only stood still with a bored expression on his face as he got closer. When the slime was close enough Y/N leaped into the air, preparing his attack. Black energy swirled around his hand, transforming it into what looked like a claw. He swiped down onto the slime villain, who was surprised when he felt a stinging pain across what would count as his face. He hissed in pain, sliding back to look at the boy who had attacked him.
His hand was still in that black energy state, making him look more intimidating. Suddenly, something clicked in his head, realizing who he was up against. "Your the-." The slime began to say, fear evident in his voice. However, he couldn't finish his sentence, when he felt pressurized wind begin to hit him at full force. He turned his attention at the end of the tunnel, where he saw the hulking figure of the number one hero, before being blasted. All Might stood at the end of the tunnel, his fist extended as he finished delivering a powerful attack against the villain. He stands tall, a big grin stretched across his face, before looking at the unconscious young girl laying on the ground. The No.1 hero picked the child up and placed her at the entrance of the tunnel. All Might was about to contain the defeated villain when he saw the boy who was fighting the villain.
He had his arm stretched outwards, black energy beginning to crawl up his arm. They stopped at the tips of his fingers, where it began to form into an enlarged blade. All Might began to worried, before he saw the boy raise his hand up and start to drive the weapon into the unconscious villain. The hero reacted as fast as he could, and luckily just in time before the boy could go any further. All Might reeled his fist back and was about to strike when the boy disappeared from sight. 'Good. He didn't kill the villain.' He thought, containing the villain in a water bottle so he wouldn't escape. He turned around and saw the boy, looking at him with a glare. All Might got a good look at the kid, and was surprised at what he saw. He had to be no older than 15, possibly 16 years old. He had long h/c hair, which was in need of a trim. He stood at 177 cm tall, with e/c eyes glaring at him. What stood out the most was his face, which were covered in scars. Two going across his forehead, one being larger and coming down to his left eye, while the smaller one stops right above. The final scar comes across his lip in a diagonal pattern, also on the left side of his face.
"Young man, I want to know what your intentions were with the unconscious villain." The pro hero asked, having a clue of what the kid might of done, but hopping he was proven wrong. Y/N stood up to his full height, still glaring at the No. 1 hero, before giving his answer. "What does it look like. I'm pretty sure even you can figure out what was going to happen." All Might was disappointed when he heard that, afraid he was going to answer with that. "Why? That is not a trait of a hero. Heroes go around and stop villains, we do not kill them." All Might explained, hopping to reason with the boy in front of him. Y/N scoffed at his little explanation, unable to stop the smirk appearing on his face.
"Yeah and how has that gone for you? You stop the villains and lock them away. But what happens when they escape? Are you just gonna capture them again, and repeat the same cycle over and over again?" He said, his voice rising with each word he said. They need to realize that this won't stop them. They'll keep escaping and do the same thing over and over again, in an endless cycle of good vs evil. All Might kept quite, trying to think of a response to try and reason with him, but that didn't stop Y/N from continuing.
"What happens when you can't capture them again? And they run around the city, bringing chaos and destruction in their path? What can you do? That's why I don't believe in you heroes and your flawed justice. People may look up to you, but I don't."
"If you just act on your own, your no better than a villain yourself." If a glare could melt someone to the spot, there might no longer be a number one hero. Y/N's glare increased in intensity after he said that. "That's what you heroes don't seem to understand. You can't stop crime, but you can control it. What happens to the villains who aren't afraid of any heroes out there. You can't stop them, so I'm taking them out!" After those words left his mouth, Y/N disappeared, the shadows consuming him into the ground, leaving nothing but silence.
