Chapter 17

Julian smiled as he watched Noah. His head was resting on the window and he was snoring lightly. Their bags of shopping were in the back seat and the trunk of the car. Julian turned back to the now dark road but not before tapping into his dreams through the link and smiling. If he was asleep he would be dreaming about the trip to the mall as well, hell he was dreaming about it and he was awake. 

When they first got to the mall, Noah was nervous because of the sheer amount of people there but once Julian managed to get him inside, he was like a kitten set loose for the first time. He was jumping from one store to the other and Julian found himself laughing as he chased his curious little mate all over the mall.

As he pulled into the garage of the pack house, he linked his beta to come help move the things upstairs. Getting out of the car, he moved to Noah's side of the car and carefully opened the door. He lifted Noah into his arms and started for the house just as Sam and some other boys came out. They smiled at him as he walked past them and he just nodded at them. He did the same when he spotted his parents in the living room as he made his way to his room. Laying Noah down, he took off his jacket and shoes before he let his mate settle into a comfortable sleep. He started to take his clothes off as Sam and the both made their way into the room. He showed them where to drop the things before climbing into the bed and scooping Noah into his arms.

Julian and Noah were pulled out of their joint dreams the next morning by a commotion downstairs. They both opened their eyes and simultaneously blinked at the sharpness of the rays.

“What the hell is going on?” Julian said at loud while also relaying the question to his dad and Sam.

The high king and his court arrived earlier than expected. They are currently in the living room. I would advise you and Noah to get down here.

“Shit!” Julian hissed. He hadn’t ever met the high king. He wasn’t even present when he went with his dad to the summit. Apparently he was away on other business and they were dealt with the head of the court.

“What’s wrong?” Noah asked raising a hand to stroke Julian's cheeks. Taking a hold of the hand, Julian smiled down at his serene and beautiful mate. The ray of the early morning rays reflected off his hair and skin making him look very tanned and practically glowing.

“Nothing baby. The king and his court are here and we have to go down and receive them as the next in line for the pack” Julian said nuzzling his hand.

“Oh, okay” Noah smiled before pulling his hand out of Julian grip and getting off the bed. Before he could get to the bathroom, Julian pulled him back by the wrist and smashed their lips together. They both promptly forgot about the royal family waiting for them downstairs as they kissed each other, tongues dancing to music that only they could hear. “Julian we can’t” Noah panted pulling away slightly.

“Fine but you owe me” Julian pouted and Noah laughed, leaning down to give him one more peck on the lips them pulling away before it got too hot.

“Behave” Noah scolded before walking into the bathroom.

Half an hour later, they were both walking down the stairs hand in hand and fully decked out in the outfits they bought the night before. They could hear their voices downstairs as they talked to Julian's parents.

“Hey no need to be nervous. You’re going to be okay. We’re going to be okay” Julian smiled as he looked down into Noah's eyes.

“Yeah” Noah smiled before burying his face in Julian neck and taking in a lung full of his scent. Lifting his head, he gave Julian a little nod before they turned and walked into the living room.

Everyone including the high king and Julian and Noah froze as they saw each other. Noah gave a little gasp as his eyes settled on the man they called the high king. He was dress like a biker. He was wearing leather pants and a leather jacket over some band t-shirt. Apart from that he was just and older version of Noah. They had the same glass blue eyes, the same white hair although his hair was longer and they had the same marble white skin. He stepped forward and touched Noah's check before clasping him around the neck and bringing their foreheads together.

Julian linked himself fully with Noah so they were like one person and felt Noah's comfort at the action. He could see the images that the high king projected straight into Noah's mind. They were images of a place that was forever bathed in warmth. There everyone had straight white hair and marble skin.

“That is our home.” The king said. His voice like Noah's had a fairy like tint to it. Like tiny little beautiful bells.

“Home?” Noah croaked. Everyone was silent and Julian was still firmly merged with Noah. He could see through Noah, fell what he felt was him.

“Yeah. We are the people of the moon. Once upon a time, on the moon kingdom, there was a young couple” he started turning back to sit across the room. “They were in love. But one day the boy fell down to earth”

“The pretty pool” Noah whispered. His mind flashing to image of a small pool that shone as if it had the moon in it.

“The pretty pool. It’s a sort of portal to the human world. Usually it’s used to travel to specific places on earth and only the elders used it because they were the only ones that could get back. The young man fell into an unidentified place. It wasn’t on the radar that the moon kingdom operated with so they couldn’t bring him back. He wasn’t equipped to survive where he landed. It was in a wolf territory so the young the woman begged the elders till they agreed to shield him from the animals by turning him into one of them. Still the young woman missed the man very much. Every day she would watch him through the pool. The elders noticed this and decided to relieve of her pain. They sent her down to earth to be with him and made it so that they would be together forever. Every full moon they would pay homage to the moon kingdom and they were blessed with many years and children. The full moon was the only time that they could actually interact with the people on the moon kingdom. Even if they couldn’t go back home, they could talk with the people there. Play with them and once again feel like they were at home” by the end of his little tale, Noah and Julian had drifted to the love eat by the door and he looked solemn.

“Wow” Julian breathed.

“Yeah wow. So Noah, you’re royalty” he smiled at Noah who was now staring at him. Julian could feel the turmoil inside him as memories of his childhood drifted up through the recess of his memory. Playing with other children, his mother, sister, father and brother.  Julian knew that his mate was on the verge of tears so he took him into his arms and tried to comfort him.

There was a loud ferocious growl that reverberated through the room and everyone turned to see the high king on his feet. He strode towards Julian and Noah on the love seat and ripped Noah out of Julian's arms. Noah let out a little whimper at sudden movement and Julian was immediately on his feet, his wolf at the surface.

“What do you think you are doing? You are not allowed to touch him. He is of the moon kingdom so he cannot mate with you! Never ever touch him again!” the king hiss at Julian and he felt like he was going to pop at the look of pure horror on Noah's face.

“How dare you come into my pack and attempt to rob me of my mate?” Julian hissed at him, his eyes turning black.

“I am your king and you will obey!”He hissed and proceeded o drag Noah out of the room, his guard behind him. In the same breath Julian was shifting into his wolf. But something was wrong. No not wrong, something was different. His wolf was bigger, stronger, changed. Before he could complete the change, he felt the bite of silver on his ankles and he hit the floor. Within seconds the silver was working through his system and he was sinking into darkness.

 Julian! He felt Noah's panic and distress through the link and tried to merge with him just before he passed out.
