I swiftly walked over to Geoffrey as he eyed Gaia in awe. I touched his shoulder lightly, and he pulled out of his trance to look me in my eyes,
"Maybe you should get out of here."
"What, no. What if Gaia gets all nutso and tries to attack you. No way, I'm staying." Geoffrey proclaimed. I wanted to roll my eyes so bad at his obvious attempt to be my 'savior,' but if anyone can handle this, it's Drax and me. We were cursed ourselves, but he didn't know that. Thankfully, my twin brother came to my rescue,
"We've got it from here dude, honestly. I won't let anything happen to her." Drax assures, and Geoffrey seems to take his word for it. At least for now, he gives us a nod before running off. We both turn back to Gaia who looks completely frazzled as she bumps into the stone fountain and examining her appearance.
"Maybe we should get her parents now," Drax whispers.
"On it!" I reply as I take off running through the garden and up the stairs. I made it to the balcony in a records time and almost wanted to congratulate myself. But it was not the time for such childishness, Gaia needs me. I burst into the ballroom, where the crowd laughs and dances. Oh, how oblivious they are to the real drama unfolding just outside these doors. I manage to spot my aunt, she was talking it up with some Duchess from some other area. I dodged through the crowd and did my best to greet people who just couldn't stop themselves from announcing my presence. 'Oh hello, your majesty.' 'Looking magnificent your highness' oh give me a break.
"Aunty A!" I shout as I interrupt their pointless conversation. My aunt turned to me as if I had just spoken gibberish.
"Olivia, how rude of you to interrupt us. Where are your manners?" she questions
"I don't have time for manners, its Gaia." I rush out and her insulted expression changes to concerned.
"What's wrong with her?"
"Come quick!" I said as I grab her hand and rush out the ballroom and down the stairs. My uncle notices us and follows quickly behind as I lead them both to the garden. Gaia was still in her cursed form, and it looked like she was trying to talk, but only growls came out. Drax held his hands out as a way to comfort her. Our aunt stared at Gaia in shock,
"She's a-"
"Go get your mother." My aunt instructed before I could tell them what she is. I huffed at the constant back and forth but made my way to the exit to go get her. Thankfully my father and mother were already rounding the corner to find us. I didn't have to travel far. Once they stepped into the garden, my mother instantly went to Gaia and touched her chest soothingly.
"It's ok Gaia." She repeated over and over until Gaia eventually returned to her normal state. Our aunt took off her cloak and threw it over Gaia's body. For a moment Gaia was silent until she turned a sharp eye at her parents.
"Sweety before you get upset-" Uncle Jace starts.
"I'm a cursed! And you both didn't think to mention that?!"
"We didn't think you got that gene, we just-" Our aunt answered.
"You were just ashamed!"
"Gaia! We have never ever been ashamed of you."
"Why would I believe anything that you have to say. You both lied to me for fifteen years about this!" Gaia yells, and her parents turn their guilty faces from her. My mom steps back over to the two of us,
"Perhaps we should leave them." My mother urged as she ushered us out the maze. Once we were closer to the exit and could no longer hear Gaia's yelling, I turned to my mother,
