I sat at my table with different spell components surrounding me. My spellbook was open to a simple novice spell, any witch could do this. I sighed while closing my eyes,

"Prend ce message ce au le centre se levant" If what I did worked, the note will burn and reappear in my brother's room. It was a simple message spell I repeat to myself as I stare at the note. It should be burning by now. I waited a few minutes longer for anything to happen but the fresh note continued to mock me.

"Redem Su Pas Quo"

"Wait! Please don't do this!" I shook my head. I've had enough nightmares about that night.

"Prend ce message ce au le centre se levant" I repeat louder this time and watched the note do nothing in return. Damnit! I swear as I toss all the spell components on the floor. My magic...why hasn't it come back yet? That witch said that it couldn't be destroyed or taken from me yet here I am without it. It's been three weeks since I have woken up and still nothing. Not even a single ember spell?! I heard the sound of someone clearing their throat and looked up to see Drax in my doorway.

"Drax," I smile as I rise out my seat to pick up the spell components. I've gotten very good at hiding my true emotions. Every time I would express my longing for my magic, I was told to be happy that I was here and that my magic will return when it does. That answer is not good enough.

"I came to check in on you," Drax replies as he walks over to help me.

"Oh, well I'm doing just great." I lie. If I mention nightmares, mom and dad turn up the smothering and I just need some space.

"Liv, I can see from the bags under your eyes that you're not okay." He tried to look me in the eyes but I quickly picked up the rest of the things off the floor and stood up. I placed them on the table and cleared my throat,

"So any news?" I ask. Drax stands up and puts the pieces he collected on the table as well. He shakes his head,

"Nothing new...except well Gaia and I have been working on the spell that Ida gave us. We've managed to find and get a few ingredients." He smiles and I give a quick smile before heading over to my bed. I hoped he would stop talking about it but instead, he continued,

"We managed to decode a few of the ingredients and buy some from the market. There's only three more that we need in order to try to start the spell. Hopefully, we can grab those quickly and start." Wonderful. A spell that I helped get, I can't perform due to two revenge seeking adults. I sat on the edge of my bed,

"Sounds great Drax," I reply but I couldn't hold in the spite that flew out with my words. Drax made a grim face and I can tell he could recognize it in my tone. He picked up my spellbook and headed over to sit next to me.

"Why don't we practice some spells together?" He offered with a hopeful smile. The last thing I want is to practice magic with Drax. I can take the embarrassment when I'm alone but to be in front of someone is something I cannot take.

"Um, that's okay." I quickly reply as I try to reach for my book.

"Nonsense, we can do an easy one like...oh like the first spell we ever did together. The ember spell. Here take my hand." Drax continues as he takes my hand while placing the book in his lap.

"Drax please."

"Phasmatos Incendia" Drax chanted, he looked at me to chant with him. I sighed and chanted with him. After three tries, nothing happened. I gritted my teeth in frustration. I knew it wouldn't work,

"Hmm, the note should've ignited" He replies as he scans over the page. It's not the spell it's me! I wanted to shout at him.

"We should just do it again. Here hold my hand again."
