"Lexi!" Someone yells in my face. I feel the light beaming on me and I slowly put my hand over my eyes. "Lexi, it's Max! Are you okay?" I nod my head and try to sit up. Max puts his hand on my back and chest and lays me back down.
"I wanna sit up," I say and try again but he pushes me back down.
"Can't do that, baby girl. You know you just passed out, right?" I open my eyes slightly and I see I'm in the nurse's office. Max is next to me and I see Lily at the end of the bed. She smiles slightly and rubs my leg. I see the principal talking to the nurse.
"I did?" I ask. He smiles just a little.
"Yes, you did. Nick will be here soon, okay?" He holds my hand as the nurse comes in.
"I need to take your blood sugar, sweetie," she says pulling a chair up.
"How?" I ask. She takes my hand and I feel a prick. "Ow!" I try to pull my hand back but Max doesn't let me.
"Her blood sugar is very low. Did she eat anything this morning?" The nurse asks.
"Yeah, she ate a bowl of fruit," Max says. He puts a band-aid on my finger.
"She needs to eat more, that's not enough for her age." Oh no. If I eat more I'll get fat, and I can't be fat! Max rubs my head. The nurse gets up and leaves. I try to sit up but Max holds me down.
"You're not going anywhere, missy." He kisses my head. Lily stands up and sits on the other side of the bed I'm on. She holds my hand.
"Its okay, you'll feel better," Lily says. She leans down to my ear. "When you passed out," she whispers in my ear, "Brett went crazy, he thought you were gonna die! He was turning all different colors. He cares about you. You should talk to him." I smile.
"What?" Max asks.
"I can't tell you since you don't tell me any secrets," I tell him.
"Fine," he says and smiles. The nurse comes back with a tray of food. She sits me up against the bed and puts the tray on my lap. There are 2 pieces of toast and chicken noodle soup.
"I want you to eat this all, okay?" She asks. I nod. "Has she ever had an eating disorder?" She asks Max. He looks at me and back at the nurse.
"Yes, a couple year ago," he says. I look away from them to at Lily. She takes my hand.
"Did she ever pass out or get very ill?"
"No, never." I look over and I see that Max looks very worried. I hear someone knock on the door and Lily opens it. Nick comes rushing in and over to me.
"Lexi, baby girl, are you okay?" He asks taking my hand. "How do you feel? Does your head hurt? Where did you fall? What-"
"Nick," Max says, "she just passed out, calm down."
"Wheres Adam?" I ask.
"He couldn't come, he's stuck in school, but he said he loves you," Nick says. Yeah right.
"Okay," I say and eat a piece of toast.
"Hi, I'm the nurse here," the nurse says to Nick. Nick shakes her hand and pulls a chair up. They all talk while I eat my food, slowly. Lily and I talk about school. Once I'm done the nurse takes my tray.
"Do you feel better?" Nick asks pushing my hair out of my face. I nod.
"I'm going to take your blood sugar again, okay?" The nurse says sitting down. I shake my head and sit on my hands. "I need to, sweetie."
"Lexi, listen please," Max says. I shake my head.
"It hurts," I say. I'm lying. I just don't want to see how high my sugar went up. Nick stands up and sits next to me on the bed. He lifts me up and puts me on his lap. I lean forward so our chests are touching. I lay my head on his shoulder and bend my legs at his side. He takes my hand and I try to pull away but he's too strong. "Ow, it hurts!" I say as the needle pricks me.
"You're okay," Nick says.
"Her blood sugar went back up and her color came back. She doing better. I would like her to stay in here until her next period, then she may go to class," the nurse says. "You may stay until its time for her to go back to class."
"Okay," Nick says. "Thank you so much."
"You're very welcome," the nurse says leaving the room.
"Lily, can you step out in the hall for a sec? We wanna talk to Lexi alone," Max says. Lily nods and walks to the door. She turns back to me and winks. She leaves and Nick turns to me.
"Do you want to tell me why you passed out?" Nick asks laying me back on the bed. I shake my head and lay back down. I pull my knees to my chest. "Hey, I know somethings wrong, and you need to tell me."
"Lexi, we're your brothers, you can trust us," Max says. No, I can't. "Do you want Lily to come back in?" I nod my head and straighten up a little, still laying down. Max goes to the door and opens it. He says something and she comes back in. I sit up and she walks straight to me and hugs me. I hug her. Nick rubs my back. I feel a tear fall down my cheek. Lily leans back and wipes the tear. I smile and hug her again. I lean back and I realize that Lily is the joy in my life. She is the one person I can trust and who cares about me (besides my brothers). She moves next to me and puts her hand on my knee.
"You have 17 minutes until your next class. Do you want us to stay?" Nick asks. I nod my head. He smiles and kisses my cheek. We sit for about 10 minutes talking about school. I feel way better and I start to walk around. I hear a knock on the door and I jump.
"Come in," Max says.
Brett comes in.
Hey guys. I'm sorry that this chapter took so long, I've kinda not been doing so well. I tried to make the part where she passed out kinda when I passed out. I know its not that good, but I'll try to make them better. Bye peeps!
