Do you know what spelunking means? I bet you've never tried it before. If you did, then HIGH FIVE, you did amazing! 👋👏👏👏
It's January and I'm super excited to spend this year twice as exciting as the last. Few people likes to venture in darkness, I mean eyes-shut darkness and in deafening silence. Any guess?
😀😊
🤗
Cave it is!
Spooky? No? I say it's beautiful. Imagine that feeling you're entering a hole in a rock, with moist walls, slippery floor and water dripping from above? It's dark, super dark, and your whisper echos long into the deep unknown.
When you might think this is something from a horror movie, no it's not. And I'll show you why.😀
There is life inside this cave. Cute little fruit bats. They were sleeping at the time... 🤗🤗🤗
I'd better not wake them up!And where there is water, something must be swimming. Good thing it wasn't snakes! 🐍🐍🐍
Little catfish. There is a river nearby and when it rain hard, the water overflows and enters the cave trapping fishes inside. There were shirmps too, and spiders!
But what is a cave without the glittering walls right? It doesn't glitter in this photo, but sure it does!
Some parts of the cave has water waste-deep, and you have to squeeze yourself and swim in. Like this one below. This cave used to be a hideout of rebels during the Phil-Spanish war. So to give you a brief history, the Spanish colonized my country for 333 years until the locals rebel some hundred years ago.
It's curiousity that drove me to visit this cave. I wanted to see the place our legendary heroes of the past used to hide. Soldiers of WW2 also used this cave for hiding. But after spelunking this historic house built by nature, I cannot imagine how difficult it was to live here.
Next month I have another climb, camp and hopefully stargaze if it won't rain. This time my folks will be raising funds to help a local coffee farmer. Climbing with a cause, why not? 😊
So how about you? Have you tried dating with nature before?
