Nero cursed as he shot Blue Rose's ammunition into the heads of two devils rushing forth to get a taste of the half devil and his human partner, Monica. "Nero, c'mon!" the auburn haired woman shouts turning to see what was taking the silver-haired man so long.
"I'm coming... Geez." he answers, placing Blue Rose within it's holster on his leg and reaching for the handle of his trusty sword, Red Queen instead. Bullets weren't going to hold them back for long, and as soon as they found a good spot to fight them off to their advantage he would rather prefer to feel them slashed through, anyways...
He would've also preferred to stay and fight them off, it was in his nature to work alone anyways and he had to question just why he had decided to partner up anyways. As he turned and hurried after Monica he wondered why it may be.
"Shit!" the shout caused him to hurry up to see his partner shooting away at a couple of devils who had just flanked them in, her Baretta and Glock firearms working hard to keep up with her trigger-happy nature.
"Move!" He shouted, rushing towards the devil that had materialized behind her. She turned, startled at the sound of Nero's demand. Her eyes widened as the demon brought his bladed arm down and into her thigh as she attempted to jump out of the way fast enough. A pain-filled grunt caused Nero's blood to boil as her blood splattered across the pavement.
The demon didn't stand a chance as Nero's demonic arm grabbed it's head and smashed it into the pavement where it twitched as it quickly dissolved back into Hell, having no energy to keep itself in the Human World now that it was dead. He grasped Monica's arm with his free demonic arm and pulled her with him - ignoring the pain-filled grunts she issued. Sure, she was injured, but he had to get her to a safe spot...
Red Queen spilled demonic blood left and right, clearing a path quickly and Monica let out a painful chuckle; "Now why couldn't you have done that before, Nero?"
"Shut up and just keep shooting." Nero answered seriously, noticing the sounds of the gunfire behind him had stopped as she had spoken to him. It took him 10 minutes to get out into the country side where more of the devils were wandering and he cursed again under his breath. Was there no safe place in this area? The one time he needed one and no one was around?
He ran past the pumpkin farm, several of them carved and lit up inside by the candles placed within, all but dragging Monica behind him. "Nero! W-Wait!" the strangled demand caused him to slow and glance back at Monica who promptly plopped onto the ground and gasped, pressing her hands to the still slowly-oozing wound.
"They stopped following..." she gasped, jerking her head behind her. Nero's gray-blue gaze glanced around them. The light of the jack-o-lantern's filled his vision in the All Hollow's Eve darkness - no moon having come this year to light their way. Indeed, none of the devils had followed past the jack-o-lanterns.
"What the hell's going on?" Nero snorts, shrugging out his arms in confusion.
"Who cares?" Monica snorted as Nero leaned down and worked on her wound, mind straying again off to find the reason why he had partnered up... When he had successfully bandaged it with the first aid kit Monica always brought along he looked up and had to fight back a slight blush at the grateful smile the auburn woman sent his way.
"Go kick their asses for me, Nero!" With a cocky smirk he nodded and rushed off to the large populace of devils, Red Queen and himself thirsting for their blood.
