♕♛ | HOW THE RIDGE WAS FORMED ! ↬ according to the first leaders of ruffleclan , the ridge was formed when the lagoon still ran in the gorge below , it 's undercurrents forming a steep cut in the rocks . when the lagoon shrank to it 's current size , supposedly at the will of starclan , a suitable camp was left for ruffleclan , with the ridge remaining as memory of the miracle .
♕♛ | HOW THE CLAN CAUSED THE DARKFOREST ! ↬ many ages ago , before clan loyalty was valued , a group of daredevil apprentices , & even warriors banded together to plan an expedition straight over the ridge . they did it in the dead of night , when the moon was invisible & all in the forest was dark , & not knowing how deep the gorge ran , all of these ruffleclan members died , as punishment from starclan that they had ignored their leader 's refusal . after death , starclan held court , & all the sparkling ancestors held rage that the ruffleclan warriors & apprentices would venture into a place that they had forbidden , as it held fatal results . they were sentenced to remain under clan territory , in an underground forest , far below the ridge 's edge , which became known as the darkforest . as time went on , these dark warriors recruited cats with brutal ambition as well as curiosity & dark desire to know of the ridge , & hold knowledge of all they were meant not too .
♕♛ | WHY THE CLAN CHANGED IT 'S NAME ! ↬ as all warriors know , ruffleclan was previously known through it 's early moons as birdclan . this became a controversial name as the birds & feathered prey of the territory grew ill , & many took it as a sick omen from starclan to change their clan 's name . the medicine cat , having heard no warning of the sorts , stood against this , but she was outvoted , & the name was changed to lagoonclan . a decade later , a new leader arose , one of a later lifestage . he had been born a moon before the clan decided to change their title , & had always disliked being apart of the renamed ' lagoonclan ' . abusing his new powers , he held council with the elders , who all stood with him , but they were at a crossroad with the younger cats , who wished to keep it as lagoonclan . ruffled pelts arose over the disagreement , & myrtlestar proposed a compromise ; ruffleclan , after the bird 's ruffled feathers , & a reminder of how the clan could 've broken apart from such a dispute , & to never walk the path of uncertainty as clanmates again .
