Chapter 1 [The Wish]

The two girls were lying on the bed. Michelle was flat on her stomach, hands under chin and eyes closed, listening to some of her favorite songs with the earplugs on while Savannah was watching 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' through the laptop on the wide screen TV. It was one of her favourite movies with Johnny and she had watched it more times than she could count. While her friends' eyes were fixed on the movie Michelle was listening to 'I believe in you' by her favorite actor, singer and artist Richard Grieco and was deep in her thoughts.

Thoughts about her life and what laid ahead for her.

She'd suffered through a lot in her childhood and she had gotten so used to go through everything alone that in the beginning when she met Savannah she had struggled with sharing her thoughts and things about her life. However the two girls had bonded relatively quickly and were now almost inseparable. Vannah was spending most of the time in Michelle's house, watching movies with her and talking about anything and everything. It was her way to escape the nightmare in her own house and Michelle was more than happy that she could help her friend even if only for a while.

The only thing they didn't really have in common was music. Savannah liked listening to various singers who Michelle had never even heard of due to the fact she was european and vice versa; most of Michelle's favorite singers and bands were european with a very few exceptions and Vannah didn't know them. However it didn't really matter for the two girls because music was something personal and each song had different meaning for both of them.

As the song changed to yet another song by Richard Grieco, 'Anything for You', Michelle rolled on her back, eyes still closed and let out a quiet sigh.

Lately more often than not she felt tired of all the emotions she was feeling inside and she wished she had someone who'd do anything for her just like Richard sang in the song.

Actually the truth was she was in love with him but he was a celebrity and had a girlfriend and Michelle knew she'd probably never have the chance to even meet the guy. Pulling the earplugs out of her ears she stopped the music application and tossed her phone aside standing up. Walking over to the window she opened it and leaned with her elbows on the wooden frame, staring outside and breathing from the fresh evening air.

It was a clear night and the stars had started to shine on the sky. The evening breeze played with her hair rocking it slightly and she closed her eyes letting her thoughts run wild.

'It's you I need

and I need you now,

I can't hold on...'

The lyrics of the song she'd just listened to echoed in her ears and she couldn't help but think how she felt exactly like that.

'All my friends tell me

they don't know me anymore.

But it doesn't matter to me

'cause it's you I'm living for.

My body starts to ache

and my heart begins to pound;

I'm burning with a fever babe,

'cause I need you now...

...I'll do anything for you...'

Richard's voice was loud and clear in Michelle's head and looking up at the night sky she wondered if somewhere out there he was looking up at the sky too.

"Vannah?"

As Michelle turned around to look at the other girl she realized Savannah had fallen asleep. Smiling slightly she pulled the covers on her friend and removed a piece of hair from her face. She was glad that finally her friend was having a peaceful sleep. However looking at the other girl's sleeping face she couldn't help but wonder why Vannah thought so low of herself when in reality she was so beautiful.

Way more beautiful than Michelle herself would ever be.

With a sigh she stood up and turning the tv and the laptop off she walked over to the open window again. Looking up at the starry sky a lot of thoughts passed through her head. Thoughts about her and Savannah and the fact that they both deserved happiness.

Savannah loved Johnny and she loved Richard yet neither of them could even meet the man of her dreams and it was so unfair. Richard's face swam up in her mind and she wished more than anything she could've had a chance with him and Savannah could've had a chance with Johnny. Actually for Vannah that was still possible because for the time being Johnny was single. Yes, there was a big age difference between them and he had recently been through of a very toxic relationship but it was still possible for Savannah and him to meet and for Johnny to fall for her.

But Michelle it was impossible. Even if she did meet Richard, she knew he was in a happy relationship and loved his girlfriend too much. And she'd never do anything to ruin his relationship and take his happiness away. Because her love for him was real and the only thing that mattered for her was his happiness. Knowing how happy he was with his girl she would never do anything to take that away.

However she still wished she could have a chance to at least meet him. Her eyes filled with mist while she was thinking what would it feel like to see him standing before her. What would it feel like to know she could reach and touch him and curl her fingers around his and wrap his arms around his muscular body to pull him in for a hug. The truth was the love she felt for him ran deep under skin, in every single blood cell running through her veins.

'But I could never be with him.' She reminded herself, her heart breaking at the thought and a tear rolled down her cheek.

A barely audible sigh escaped her lips.

'I wish we were born earlier. I wish I had Richard and Vannah had Johnny. I wish everything was different.' She thought bitterly.

But when a falling star crossed her vision she closed her eyes and a single thought went through her mind before she voiced out one ultimate wish.

I wish we could go back.
