They kept her in the dark,

Told her she was worthless.

Made a joke or two,

When they were just jealous.

They knew she was naive,

Knew she'd believe them.

But what they didn't let her know,

Was that she was a gem.

She never understood,

What the reasons were.

She asked, They easily said,

Everything was wrong with her.

The pain was too much,

She needed a release.

So she took the blade,

Hoping to find some peace.

They saw her wrists,

Saw the red where she slit.

"It's just a phase."

"Get over it."

She grasped at straws,

Told herself she was alive.

Inside she already knew,

They wouldn't let her survive.

So she gave up.

Knew she deserved it.

She closed her eyes.

And took another hit.

They got bored of her,

Wondered why she wouldn't hide.

Bu the damage was already done.

Now she was dead inside.
