Ricardo's POV
I went downstairs to see my mother cooking and Rosa still coloring.

"Where's DeeDee?" I asked.

My mother looked up.

"Oh I dont know she just walked through that door. I think she went to walk around the house to get a feel for it." My mother said quickly.

I looked over at my sister who looked at me with her lips pressed.

I gave her a gentle smile.

"Whatchu looking at ugly." I said hitting her head.

She put her crayon down and I automatically knew she was gonna chase me.

I started laughing and running away.

"DONT BREAK ANYTHING IN THE HOUSE!" My mother yelled.

I ran to the living room and up the steps with her chasing me. When I reached the top of the balcony I looked down at her.

"I'm coming for you." She said climbing up the steps.

"Yo chill. I gotta find my girl." I said.

Her eyes showed a looked I couldn't read.

"You know where she is dont you?" I asked.

She quickly shook her head no.

"No I don't." She said.

I walked down the steps confusion written on my face.

"So what's wrong? What is it?" I asked.

She looked back to the kitchen and then back to me.

"Where's DeeDee?" I asked getting nervous.

"I told you I dont know. She and mommy got in an argument and then she left I dont know where she went." She said softly.

My heart sank.

My girlfriend

Is somewhere in the streets

In a place she never been

I felt my anger getting the best of me.

"What did mommy say to her?" I asked.

"She wants her to stay away from you to keep you safe." She said sadly.

I clenched my jaw.

"Are you mad?" She asked.

I looked at her.

"Mad? No. Infuriated. Hell yeah." I said getting up.

I went in the kitchen and saw my grandmother and father in there.

"What's your problem?" I asked my mother.

"Huh?" She asked playing dumb.

"Why on earth would you run my girl off like that? You don't know nothing about her, you don't know nothing about us, so why would you do some shit like that?" I asked.

"Aye watch your mouth." My pops said.

"Is that true?" My grandmother asked.

"Of course it is. You think it's a coincidence that as soon as she arrives in your life this little war goes on? It's obvious they're targeting her and you're gonna feel her repercussions." She said.

"No. You're so wrong you don't even know the half of it. You haven't been through what we been through. I trust her why couldn't you just respect that?" I asked.

I sucked my teeth and walked out.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"To look for her." I said.
